“Lady of the Shore”

Been wanting to make a piebald basilosaurus character for a while! I’ve given her the nickname “Lady of the Shore” but I’m not sure what her actual name will be :’]

Any suggestions welcome!

Little elephant thing I forgot the name of is crossing the channel to head to another feeding ground. Poor thing is unaware of the ancient whale swimming just a few yards from him. The whale, on the other hand, has noticed him.

I really struggled with backgrounds on this. I need to do some studies because oml backgrounds/anything involving water kill me :’]

Used my basilosaurus model and the static entelodont of shame to stage the critters and get the size difference down. Probably shouldn’t rely on 3D models as much as I do but I made them and I’m lazy so eh

Basilosaurus!

Made a 3D model of this guy to use as a reference and wanted to try it out with a quick painting. I have some ideas on things I want to draw involving Basilosaurus and needed something to help me stay consistent lol

Below is the model I made and rigged (poorly) along with an entelodont that’s about to be remade and CSP’s default model. They aren’t pretty, but they get the job done!

Tall & Short duo Trying to get an idea for what these characters might look like... Planning out a written series with them in it.

Tall one is Solvryn and the short one is Auralis

Not gonna say too much, yet, because the story is currently in brainstorming phase and everything isn't nailed down yet.

I will say pterosaurs act as gods/demigods in this universe, ruling over ground-dwelling creatures. Solvryn is a knight of sorts and Auralis is a priestess in training (maybe.... haven't decided yet)

Aiming for Warrior Cats meets Jurassic Park? Kinda... we'll see lol

Quetz this time! Been a while since I’ve drawn a background….

I know the foliage isn’t accurate but I was solely going for vibes so I’m not gonna apologize lol

Messing with the saturation and contrast a bit. I plan to print this out and I’m not sure how it’ll look. I’ll probably make a few more variations to test and see what I prefer.

For funsies, here was my initial thumbnail sketch I made for this piece:

As for the speedpaint, I’ve never drawn quetz before so I made a 3D mockup to keep the proportions roughly accurate. Also helped me get a visual on the pose.

Everything else was guesswork as I kinda felt out the piece. Not totally happy with it, but I had fun using the new brushes I downloaded.

Now, let’s see how bad tumblr butchered the quality lol
