How to end an argument, according to a man.
No Make Up Selfies?
The whole "No Make Up selfies" scheme has pretty much come out of the blue. For those who do not know what it is, it's basically girls/women taking photos of themselves without make up and then nominating other people to do it with the intent to raise awareness of cancer. (Could be breast Cancer or just cancer in general I don't really know). However, this has caused the "un-confident" side of the female society to get somewhat angry and aggressive at people for doing this, their argument is that there "Everybody knows about cancer so raising awareness is pointless" Well this is bullshit. Not everybody knows about cancer unfortunately, especially people in different societies and cultures, and even if everyone did know, it is a reminder to people that it is out there. Let's be fair, how many of us think about cancer on a day to day basis. I don't. Not for any reason other than the fact that I have too much to worry about as it is, but every time I see one of these selfies it is a reminder for all those who have nor lost or won their battle to cancer, but to the thousands and thousands of cancer research volunteers trying to find a cure day in day out.
Cancer Research itself says that there has been a huge increase in donations over the last few days because of this "No Make Up Selfie" thing! So before you slate an idea, or before you pick at everyone who is doing it, whether it is making a difference to you not, just consider what they are actually doing. They are not taking a selfie to prove natural beauty, they are not doing it to be part of the crowd, they are doing it to encourage others to get involved and drive donations to stop cancer. It is not harming you. It is not even affecting you. You are not forced to get involved. But you should respect those who are getting involved, just like they would respect your decision for not getting involved.
Stay Cool People
Beat Cancer.
Hating on One Direction
person: i hate one direction
fandom: if by "i hate one direction" you mean that you really dislike the way the media portrays them, we don't like that either.
fandom: if by "i hate one direction" you mean you hate the way they are advertised with assigned roles that come with expectations, which don't portray who they really are, neither do we.
fandom: if by "i hate one direction" you mean the way some immature and inconsiderate fans that touch the boys inappropriately, or camp out at their houses so that their family cannot sleep, or send them or their families or friends hate, we do too.
fandom: if by "i hate one direction" you mean that you cannot stand the way they may seem fake, it's a product of the many lies and marketing strategies and social beliefs of their management team, which, yes, we really hate that too.
fandom: just because you don't like the artificial parts and don't look deeper because you're not interested, doesn't mean you hate one direction...it just means that you don't understand.
fandom: but if you "hate one direction" because of how tactile and emotive their friendship is, or because they might be 'gay' or there may be interband relationships, or because you think they can't sing, or because of the thousands of 'crazy' and 'obsessed' girls they attract who are - for once - given the opportunity to express and develop their sexuality in a safe environment where they can't be forced or pressured into doing something with a boy that they don't want to and therefore associate these girls as doing (liking one direction) something bad and losing respect for them, then you are just a very rude arsehole and if you don't have something nice to say keep your shallow and discriminatory opinions to yourself.
