Malachi Kirby to Star in “Anansi Boys”

Malachi Kirby has joined the cast of Amazon’s Anansi Boys, based on the novel by Neil Gaiman. Kirby joins the previously cast Delroy Lindo (Mr. Nancy / Anansi). Kirby will portray both Charlie Nancy and Spider. Gaiman and Sir Lenny Henry are writing the six-episode limited series along with Arvind Ethan David, Kara Smith, and Racheal Ofori. Gaiman and Douglas Mackinnon will serve as co-showrunners.

Anansi Boys follows timid Londoner Charles Nancy. Charles finds out that his father, Mr. Nancy, has died. Charles then discovers that Mr. Nancy is in fact the trickster spider god Anansi. Also, Charles’ heretofore unknown brother Spider is about to make Charles’ life very interesting.

Variety broke the news.

One of our fellow Dirktectives u/yunafires on reddit (and I believe @yunafire on tumblr) provided a link to the screen recording she took of the short on Thursday. Thank you so much! She gave me permission to share it on here as well. Of course, ownership to the original creators, but I know many of us (including myself) purchased tickets to the lecture intending to watch it later and are unable to now due to the recording issues they had.

Arvind Ethan David named his cat Dirk!

Arvind Ethan David, whom you may recognize as the executive producer of the 2016 TV adaptation of Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, has been teasing involvement in an HHGG-related project on Twitter. Individuals more knowledgable than I suspect it's the ever-upcoming Hulu adaptation.

I for one adored DGHDA 2016, so if this is the case then I'm excited.
