proper post for my legs stays with apo au because I'm deeply in love with the concept (side bar that they're important to each other outside of romance here. get weirder about platonic dynamics now)
so here's a description:
"After being convinced to take the cure, Legundo escorts Apo home.
Every day, he thinks it's best he leaves. Every day, Apo convinces him to stay a little longer."
so how does this all shake out?
now the pre-escort stuff isn't as thought out but I'm gonna elaborate on it anyway.
the logistics of legs being cured is that I saw some saying that force curing means you can cure any fledglings that vampire has? I'm not sure if that's true but for the sake of legs agreeing to be cured as opposed to dying to cure abolish then one of the characters has this epiphany and proposes it. alternatively if it's not true then it'd be harder to convince legs to become a human again when abolish has to stay a vampire. but also legs died so abolish could do less paperwork and I'm too mad about that to let anyone off the hook here. I suppose theoretically legs could stay a vampire out of a want to not be the only human to leave oakhurst but for this au I imagine him getting cured. because he'd feel guilty anytime apo is visibly struggling with still being a vampire <3
I did write out a thing for doc's mentality here:

I kind of imagine this following my apo and post turning legs fic so apo has a drive present in mind to not let legs die. after martyn and ren die apo doesn't want to lose someone else that she feels responsible for. now how exactly they back out of the plan is unclear because mr paperwork hater veylocke needs to get over that hurdle. and also no one listens to apo so she can't convince anyone herself. maybe pearl could? seeing all the casualties and understanding that enough is enough? that it's unfair to ask this of legs (especially in the case that force curing lets you cure the fledglings too but again. unclear)?
however it happens, apo wants to leave. she feels awful after martyn and ren's death, and she knows someone else that feels just as culpable. with her need to get back to cherri, apo understands that right now legs needs a purpose. someone to help. she hates how unfair this all is. so she gives him someone to help. she asks him to take her home. and he agrees.
apo and cherri reunite. they insist doc stays for dinner. doc helps explain what happened. they tell him it's late, so he should stay the night. apo tells legs that guests get the bathroom first, and he tries to insist that it's her house, but she gives him a flat look and tells him he looks awful. the turning scars are fresh. legs has plenty of scars, but these came from betrayal. legs tries to clean up as quickly as he can. cherri (seamstress, so I'd assume she has clothes lying around) gets him pajamas and they give him the spare room. cherri and apo fully catch up in their bedroom. sleep is hard to come by that night.
after that, it's a constant reassurance that "if you have anywhere you need to go, you can go. but we think you should stay a little longer." they make excuses and hope there will be a point where they don't have to anymore.
apo wants someone who was there. they can tell cherri everything, but after fernsfield, there was no one left to share the aftermath with her. but doc is still here. he almost wasn't, but he's still here. apo thinks doc could use someone to help, but they also just don't want him to leave. apo is a vampire, and here's someone who the cure works for. they're jealous, but above all, legs proves to them that there's a chance. no matter what, even if as a vampire for now, they will live.
cherri is... not featured in person so it's more guesswork to write how they'd feel about this. their apo is back, and doc helped her get home. sure, it's an adjustment to have someone new in the house, but the house was cold for months when apo was away. they're willing to look past the awkwardness when this is something they all need. plus legs could be a great model for them to practice on (silly)
legs keeps telling himself that he's overstayed his welcome, but he can't bring himself to leave. not when he can still help. he tells himself he doesn't deserve this ending, but apo does, and she shouldn't have to bear another goodbye after all that's happened. so he'll stay for her. he'll stay to not shatter this ending for her. (and slowly, slowly, maybe he wants to stay for his own sake, too. maybe he wants to live for the few decades he has left)
and apo tells doc she'd like to save a dance for him at the spring festival, if his old man bones can handle it. (stay? stay?)
and after a few months, the spring festival arrives. and they all go together

Keep running into abuse in queer spaces. Idk just kind of sucks that the place that is supposed to accept me...doesn't.
