[jensen/lux] "I think you should go for it."
One eyebrow raised, a hand combing its way through his hair, Jensen stared at his best friend, his features clouded with a look of total disbelief. She thought he should go for it? With Greyson? He knew he should be happy, grateful that she was being supportive of him, but he just felt annoyed.
“Uh, seriously?” he asked, eyeing her curiously. “You think I should just... ask him out?”
Lux was his best friend, the most important person in his life bar Sawyer, and he’d do anything for her. She knew that, of course she did, but their relationship had always been nothing but platonic, and as far as he was aware he was content with that. Sure, Lux was hot, and he enjoyed teasing her every so often, but that was it, right? Wrong. The way in which she so casually encouraged him, telling him to pursue Greyson, only rattled his nerves. Where some girls - or guys, even - might be petty and try to discourage him, jealousy seeping through their tone, there was only sincerity in Lux’s.
Unwavering, she continued wiping down the bar before him, entirely undeterred by his persistence regarding Greyson, he sighed and shrugged. Fine, if she wasn’t interested then he wasn’t gonna waste his God damn time.
“Right. Awesome. I’m gonna do exactly that. Thanks, Saverin,” he told her, his voice clipped as he tried not to sound too irritated. Did she really not care? Well, shit. His heart hammered in his chest at the thought, and he found himself slowly contemplating the possibility of maybe, just maybe, he was the jealous one. He wanted Lux to be jealous, he wanted her to protest and tell him that he shouldn’t go after Greyson, that he had everything he needed right here.
But she wouldn’t, and so he wouldn’t wait around.
