Above is a picture of the asexual flag. Being asexual, or asexuality, is when one is not sexually attracted to others or have very low interest and/or desire when pertaining to sexual activity. Asexuals are often overlooked in all communities, even sometimes in the LGBTQ+ community. Sadly, there is not a lot of history when looking at asexuals, either. This can quite often cause confusion and self-hatred for one’s identity and can significantly cause low self-esteem and mental health disorders. In addition, there are many people, inside and outside of the LGBTQ+ community, who don’t know what asexuality is and have probably never met someone asexual (or knowingly asexual) before. It is super important to always keep an open mind and respect one’s sexual preference and identity!
