Advice for Asexuals
Listen, guys, asexuality is a thing, and if you identify that way, then HI! Welcome to our little club of happiness! (Cookies are not currently available, sorry.)
Anyone who tells you that you're just mistaken, or you don't really understand what a sexual preference is is wrong, trust me. What you're feeling is natural-lots of people feel the same way as you. No, guys, we don't think sex is icky (asexual does not mean teenage boy). Rather, it means that we aren't nearly as interested in hopping into bed with you guys.
Some people say that asexuality is the lack of sexual orientation-this is also untrue. Asexuality is a legitimate orientation, just as much as being gay or hetero or transgender or anything else. (I mean, if you're into fucking llamas, then man/woman/fellow llama-you go for it! Go meet your llama soul mate, I'm sure they're out there.)
Also important: just because someone is asexual doesn't mean they just don't like the sex. Lots of asexuals like the sex; they just don't necessarily want to have the sex with anyone or ever in their lifetime. (IF YOU HAVE A PARTNER WHO IS ASEXUAL, PLEASE DO NOT PRESSURE THEM INTO THE SEX! IF YOU ARE ASEXUAL, PLEASE DO NOT GIVE YOUR PARTNER THE SEX JUST TO KEEP THEM AROUND!)
Many asexuals also date-dating is fun, and can often be more fun than the sex. Some asexuals might also consider themselves to be gay, lesbian, transgender, or even interested in llamas. This is okay-deciding you like llamas does not mean you are no longer asexual. It just means you prefer relationships with your fellow llamas. (Again, we don't judge here.)
Unfortunately, as an asexual, you will probably get a lot of questions, such as "do you reproduce like the plants?" or "so...are you going to have a clone baby of yourself?" Tell them yes, of course you're going to have a little plant clone baby. Laugh afterwards and walk away, yelling YOU FOOLS as you go. (Or, just educate them about the truth. Tell them that, no, it just means you don't really want the D or the V or the llama.)
Remember: just because some people don't believe that asexuality is a thing does not make this so. Only you know how you feel inside. Listen to yourself and decide how you really feel. And, if it turns out that those llamas aren't actually as great as you thought, it's okay. There are always alpacas, right?
