Name: Kris Gender: female Height: 5′3″ Where I live: U.S. (Texas) Time/date: 11:39 AM on August 13th Average amount of sleep: 5-7 hours Most recently watched and enjoyed movie: When Marnie was There My favorite band: This changes too often for me to say tbh, it is always based on my mood of the moment One thing that ticks me off: Ignorance.  Not really not knowing better and saying the wrong thing, everyone’s done that, but KNOWING better and continuing to be an ignorant asshole really pisses me off to no end Favorite drink: root beer or cream soda Meaning of my URL: i tend to prefer title toward myself that aren’t exactly “regal” but of high standing and generally meaning a powerful person or a person of a certain standing who isn’t perfect.  Like i prefer “madame” more often than not but i’ve also used “goddess” paired with “severed” (meaning i’m a fallen/broken/not whole one) which i use for several things.  I’ve also paired “madame” with “mad”  to the same effect. It suits my personality.  And here i’me paired with “loki of asgard” because i not only love him and he’s not just my favorite character but because i identify, in the darker and most troubled and broken parts of myself, with him.  He is basically a part of me in many respects.  I just AM Madame Loki of Asgard at this point.  I literally just can’t bring myself to change my url anymore and haven’t in years Most used phrases: “i just...”, “seriously, what the fuck?”, “well that’s not good”, “oh HELL no” Favorite movie soundtrack: oh lord...i don’t often go looking for soundtracks but: lotr/hobbit soundtracks, and basically all Ghibli/Miyazaki soundtracks, and Back to the Future

18: How do you feel about love triangles?

I have to be honest...you know i  have been guilty of writing them in my past and they still exist to an extent in my current stories because...well the ideas and lives of these OCs have been around for over a decade so i can’t really erase them completely, but i have remade them into something more complicated.    I think there is only a few ways in which a love triangle can be handled and executed properly.  

This includes:  It’s not a love triangle but more than three people interconnected via weird circumstances...pasts...residual feelings etc...and in some cases are actually loveless but are merely physical.     If it ends in polyamory.  If it does not result in cat or fist fights over the others affection...including any verbal accusations pertaining to the other person whom they are both in love with.  meaning their issue with each other stems from something else entirely.

I have seen this play out expertly in only a few cases and some of my favorite cases are (excluding my own) Fruits Basket and--recently--Nana (i’m surprised i enjoyed it but it made it showing love and life are not so simple or black and white and i appreciate that. very bittersweet ending).  These “love triangles” weren’t merely that...they were far more complex than that with different kinds of love and a lot of personal issues to contend with and the interactions between the opposing people wasn’t simple...one was resolved and the others never confronted.  One story ended with complete resolve and happily...one ended bittersweet and complex and not at all storybook and i love that.

19: Do you prefer writing on a computer or longhand?

If it’s been a while and i’ve been in a rut, i NEED to start off longhand.  it gets me back into it but once i get started and am comfortable in it again i can continue permanently on computer.

34: Describe your writing space.

I have 2.  One is my recliner in the living room.  An old one i need to get rid of but i digress, it’s the most comfortable spot for me to wite and my surrounding area is a bit messy.   The other is my bed.  Less comfortable, propped up on pillows (including the laptop) drink always within reach and instrumental music going.

37: What’s your oldest WIP?

The oldest....probably the one i’ve tried rewriting a thousand times...with Duncan and Ivy (prv Ivory) whose title has changed many times...anyway...they have my oldest characters that i still write (though i did create Ling around the same time for a dif story that died ages back).  But that story is the oldest...literally it’s 16 years old. Agency series is 12 years old and Wild Moon is 10 years.  So yeah.  That story and those characters have been with me since HS

47. if you could steal one character from another author and make them yours, who would it be and why?

honestly, my gut says gale hawthorne because he had so much wasted potential and there’s so much strength and amazingness in his character that was completely wasted and thrown by the wayside for the simple convenience of putting a nice bow on a love triangle wrap. i want to steal gale so i can give him the credit he deserves and try to fix/shape the fact that his character has been dragged through the mud and back again for no reason.

48. if you could write the next book of any series, which one would it be, and what would you make the book about?

the song of fire and ice series just so we could have it. no, but really, i would love to write a book that is set in david brin’s uplift universe/saga because the possibilities are almost endless - there are so many worlds, races and questions that are left open by his novels that even if i can’t define exactly what i would do with the novel (either look into one of the alien races, perhaps, or maybe write a book spanning the gap between existence, which i’m reading now, and sundiver since there’s still a gap there?) i know that i would really enjoy writing within that universe.
