OKAY SO I’m going out of town for a few days tomorrow and I don’t know if I’ll be able to watch the new GF episode while I’m gone, so I’m really REALLY hoping somebody puts it up tonight! But, if not, I won’t be able to talk about it with anyone until Friday, probably.

Okay, my Ladybug feelings, for real this time!

The animation style is...not my favorite, I’ll be honest. The colors and everything are very pretty, but something about it feels very...old school computer game-y? I dunno, it isn’t terrible by any means but the art style doesn’t particularly do anything for me either.

I do like the obvious anime influences, though!

I *adore* Kim. I want to wrap that boy up in a blanket and take him home and feed him cookies and try to gently persuade him that he should really just ask Max out already.

Adrien and Chat seem so different, it was kind of weird to think of them as the same person at first? As I’ve continued watching the show I’ve seen more and more of Chat in Adrien and Adrien in Chat, but it wasn’t the instantaneous “oh, of course” of Marinette/Ladybug.

I mean, Chat flirting with Ladybug is also pretty great, but Marinette-as-Marinette and Adrien-as-Chat interacting has the potential to break me here

this lovesquare is so well done, I’m really truly impressed. It’s frustrating because you’re invested, but it isn’t frustrating in a way that makes you exhausted with these people and their non-relationships the way things like this can get? Idk, it’s very good and I like it a lot.

Alya is amazing. Seriously, she’s a fantastic character with, imo, surprising depth and complexity. 

You were absolutely right that the French dub is best! The English dub feels really slow paced in comparison, and the Korean dub is so far out of sync with the movement of the characters’ mouths sometimes that it takes me a bit to figure out who’s supposed to be talking.

REVEAL TROPES ARE MY FAVORITE, HOW DID YOU KNOW, SHOW?!

Adrien is a surprisingly interesting character; I didn’t expect to like him as much as I do, but he really is funny and sympathetic and even heartbreaking at times. He’s really grown on me, to the point where he’s one of my favorite characters.

I really love Marinette’s selfish streak, it’s a great characteristic for a superhero whose deeds often revolve around kindness and compassion and all the things we think of as being opposite to selfishness. She has no qualms about knocking Max out of the tournament, even though she has zero interest in it other than as a way to spend time with Adrien--she didn’t even know about it until she walked in to the library! She isn’t mean, but she doesn’t see why she shouldn’t just go for the things she wants when she has the opportunity, and I love that. Sometimes it comes back to bite her, but it isn’t always clearly presented as a flaw, and I like that, too. Marinette is a really great example of a very feminine superhero who isn’t defined by stereotypically feminine character traits (she’s stubborn, she’s often oblivious rather than being hyper-emotionally aware, she’s clearly in a leadership role and isn’t afraid to pursue one in her real life, either), and I’m so glad to see her on my screen.

The whole thing actually reminds me a lot of American Dragon: Jake Long, for reason I can’t fully articulate, but there you have it. Sometimes when I watch this show that’s all I can think about.

Met a Celebrity: nope. My dad has an amusing story about Harrison Ford at a S&R meeting, though.

Smiles or Eyes: hmm...um...I think...smiles? Pretty eyes are nice but a mischievous smirk is better.

Sense of humor: Do I have one? Um, I think so! I’m deeply fond of terrible puns and absurd history jokes and referential humor in general.

my favorite thing about Miraculous Ladybug is that it's 100% believable. French teenagers are terrifying, they could totally fight evil inbetween classes and not even break a sweat.

Yeah, it baffles me how common skinny!short!older Dipper is when he's actually a really, really active kid and I can't see that changing. The show throws around jokes about him being weak, but like you said, he's a kid, and he's clearly shown commitment to changing that. I don't tend to headcanon him as very tall when older (more like average), but I honestly imagine him ending up sturdy/stocky, broad-shouldered like that Stans, etc. I'm so glad to not be the only one to dislike beanpole!Dipper

I imagine he and Mabel to be a bit above average height for a male and female actually (so like for Dipper that’d be around 5′11″–6′0″ and for Mabel around 5′8″–5′9″), but not anything too crazy. And yeah stocky and broad-shouldered like the Stans cause the twins resemble them, especially Dipper.

You get me, man. You really get me. I’m glad I’m also not the only one out there against short skinny older Dipdop.

It's fine that you published it, no worries! And yeah, I just don't see redemption arc either. I honestly liked her more when she was a fail villain, but everyone softening to her so quickly in the show makes me kinda uncomfortable

YES EXACTLY

fail!villain Peridot was amusing and semi-likeable and provided some sources of conflict to keep that arc going without ever really presenting much in the way of actual danger, which meant we could stay focused on the things I really love about this show while doing so: the relationships, the backstories, everyone else in their lives.

pet!villain Peridot is...still a threat, still has evil intentions, not soft and cuddly even though apparently we’re treating her that way? This is not Andrew (btvs)! She has done nothing to even BEGIN to redeem herself and. Yeah. Not really changing where it counts, ultimately.
