How I entered/learned about the said game/show/movie/etc of that fandomFrom @somethingsareuncertain, the bastard
Fave character-stares into the camera-ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦trahearne
Least fave characterMy first instinct is to say Logan LMAO but thatās really not true at all. I deeply enjoy his character especially with the recent episode. Thereās not really any character that I hate butā¦. if I had to pick one? Probably Caithe because Iām still unsure of all the shit that went down in HoT and her weak ass apology.
OTP(s)I really⦠wow. I donāt think I have any? I mean, itās no secret that Iām very into Commander/Trahearne but I deeply love all of the canon couples and I have yet to see a ship that I donāt like. I dig some light riannoc/trahearne, im into canach/anise to an extent, and I donāt mind logan/jenna if done right. But honestly, again if I had to pick one, probably Kas/Jory just because of how much they mean to me and how prominent their relationship is. Like christ guys⦠just the fact that this lesbian relationship is so fucking normalized in game that you even get kidās referencing it in Lionās Arch.God.. just the fact that all kinds of gay relationships are normalized without a bat of a single eye is so goddamn important to me.
Pairing that everyone likes but I donāt getAgain, I have yet to see one that bothers me. I might chalk that up to the fandom being relatively small so nothing gross has come out of the woodwork.
Fave thing about the fandomTHE CREATIVITY.Ā As far as like quality of creative works go, the gw2 fandom has some of my favorites. And Iām not just talking about art and fic, Iām also talking about screenshots and edits because HOLY DAMN YOU PEOPLE ARE AWESOME.
And also as much as I love stuff with the canon characters, I LOVE looking at everyoneās commander and other ocs. Theyāre all so great and I think this is legit the only fandom where I find myself actively caring about other peopleās characters outside of my friend group.
LINK ME YOUR FICS ABOUT YOUR OWN COMMANDER I WILL EAT THEM UP.
The most despised thingAnd again, I donāt have any. Well, okay⦠there is one thing Iām little miffed about but its a specific event and not about the fandom as a whole.Spoiler warning for those who have not finished HoT, but some people were not happy with how the aftermath of what happened in HoT was handled. A lot of people were very upset when we got a funeral for one character right away and not the other and with the recent chapter a lot of people thought it was thrown together to just please those that were unhappy.
First, I dismiss a lot of this because I think the majority of people who are upset are younger fans and thatās fine. But those who are a bit older need to realize that the sylvari race is literally only 20 or so years old. This is a race that we still have no idea how long their lifespans are because the firstborns keep tragically dying by other means. That being said, this race is so goddamn new they donāt any kind of ceremonies or anything in place for deaths of their own kin. They literally donāt have anything of that nature. The most we see are very small graves with a single rock and leaf at the place where they died via riannoc and that other sylvari in the early personal story.
And two, this leads directly into my other point about the most recent content. It specifically states that the memorial was organized by members of the pact, and while a sylvari is the one standing there, I guarantee you other members of races came up to some sylvari and were likeĀ āhey we think this is a nice thing to do, and this is how we usually honor the dead who have accomplished great things.ā On top of all that the timing of this was completely realistic and I donāt think people realize that. Yes, it has been well over a year since HoT came out but not nearly that much of time has passed in game. Not even close. (The only reason why we got Eirās so soon is one, like I said, the Norns have ceremonies set place, and 2, Braham brought her body back very early on in the expac.)
Lastly, for people that think this was just rushed together to appease fans. For those that truly think that I donāt think know of the questline to restore caladbog. It was so artfully done. Not just the last part where you talk to Trahearne and Riannoc and go back to Orr, but also the collections in the beginning as well. Never have I had a more pleasant time doing a collection achievement. All the places you visit were absolutely lovely and I couldnāt help but picture Trahearne taking solace in them.
ANYWAY HOLY SHIT THAT WAS LONGER THAN INTENDED. I donāt hold any ill will to those who hold resentment, I just disagree and wish for them to try and see things from another perspective. Ā
If there is something I would change from said game/show/movie/etc., what would it be.Absolutely nothing as of now. Recently I just replayed some episodes from season 2 and holy cow has season 3 improved on SO MUCH. I continue to be fucking amazed with this new team and the outstanding work theyāre doing. I feel like I canāt even ask for more frequent releases because of how awesome the story has been.
While replaying season 2 I couldnāt help be remember the amount of fluff most episodes had just to give them more substance but never actually amounted to anything or mattered in the grand scheme of things. (For example, the bit with Joryās sword.) And with season 3, every single little thing matters to plot and even the cut scenes are so much better.
Man, I just love this game and I canāt wait to see where it goes.
