For most people, I would guess that thinking of Rob Reiner automatically invokes the many, many timeless films that he directed or otherwise contributed to. But for me, he's Mike Stivic, the anxious left-wing son-in-law on All in the Family. I grew up associating Mike with my father because of how much they had in common. For years, my family and I would watch the show together and laugh.
And while Rob Reiner's performance was usually hilarious, he could often be heartfelt. In the episode "Edith's Crisis of Faith," Edith Bunker becomes completely heartbroken when her close friend, a drag queen named Beverly, is killed in a hate crime right before she was to join them for Christmas dinner. She's utterly shattered and questions her belief in God for the first time. When Christmas finally comes, she can't focus. Mike is the one who comes to comfort her.
I will probably never understand why Rob Reiner and his wife had to die so horribly, right at the start of the holiday season. But I know that the circumstances of his death don't take away from all the joy I got from watching him all these years.
rip rob reiner, an absolute giant of film making 💔

Happy 100th birthday to television and screen legend Dick Van Dyke, born on December 13th, 1925 in West Plains, Missouri. ❤ Gifs of Mr. Van Dyke from an interview with Good Morning America, originally broadcast by ABC on December 12th, 2025.
I don’t think i could love him more.
Oh my Godddd. The US Army chorus was told to perform at the White House for Trump and his cronies and they chose to perform One Day More from Les Miserables. What a gutsy move. A giant middle finger to authoritarianism right in front of Trump's face. Good for them.
To every member of the military and every civil servant fighting in big ways and small, public and private, to protect the Constitution and uphold the oaths you swore, thank you for your service. We see you and we love you. We're counting on you and we're all behind you 100%. Hold the line.
This made me actually tear up and feel a little hopeful. Everyone, no matter who they are needs to do their part. The Fascists are dangerous but they are few. Together we can all defeat them and keep the freedoms so many have fought so hard for.
Also I am living for these comments!
Literally sobbing. A judge, a US judge defended us. A judge brought up intersex people, using the term intersex, to *defend* us by not allowing our erasure. I'm having a lot of feelings right now
im always suuuuper chill when i see that service unavailable page
Congratulations! You are the new sidekick to a DC or Marvel superhero. Spin the wheel to determine who your mentor is. (NO RE-SPINS)
Assume you will have a similar superpower or will learn a similar skill set (for the non-powered heroes) as your mentor or one of your mentor's canon sidekicks (dealer's choice) so you aren't completely screwed.
Are you fucked?
Not at all! I think they'd be a great mentor actually
Probably not but certain things might be a bit difficult
I'm not sure. Maybe. Depends on a few things.
Probably but I might be able to succeed despite my mentor
I'm so fucked
This mentor has canonically had a sidekick die so I'm probably super fucked
I would survive but I'd hate working with this mentor so fucking much
This mentor is fine as a person but they should never be a mentor so I'm fucked
I don't know enough about this person to make a judgement
