A little short of 3 years Bonnie’s oldest nephew, his wife and young son visited us. They are natives of NYC and we took them camping outside of Cedar Breaks National Monument. There we introduced them to a number of things we take for granted. Like…hiking at 10,000 feet; wilderness camping (no facilities, no flush toilets, no picnic benches and no people); the beauty and value of our shared public lands; star-filled night skies; the Milky Way; thousand year old bristlecone pine trees; geological processes revealed; and very sudden drop-offs.
