I remember the times when I looked in the mirror and I didn’t love myself. I realized that I allowed other people to determine my happiness. I was trying to fit in instead of stand out. Then I had an epiphany and I realized that the only person that stopped me from being great was me. I started to find myself, empower myself and love myself. As women we are nurturers by nature. But often times we forget take care of ourselves because we are so focused on others. When we block out all the negativity and focus on what makes us happy, we can love all of ourselves. Which in turn will help us love, uplift and empower others. There’s a quote that I love “Each time a woman stands up for herself, without knowing it possibly, without claiming it, she stands up for all women.” (Maya Angelou). I am Ashley Stewart because I am fierce, confident, strong, loving, encouraging, empowering, kind, humble, and a beautiful women that’s has been through hell and back with a smile on my face. I want us all to stand in unity and empower one another. We can ALL shine together. It’s a lot easier to be yourself then to try to be someone else. Women are unique in so many different ways and it’s time we took the forefront so we can light up the world.
