So.... Aug 28, 2015 , Ashton Eaton, USA, broke his World Record in the decathlon at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China. I was lucky enough to be where I probably wasn’t supposed to capture these moments. This is his walkout to the track for his final event, the 1500 meters. He knew that the WR was in reach. He also previously hadn’t finished a decathlon or run a 1500 meters in two years. I knew what was on the line at the time. I was the only photographer in the tunnel, possibly capturing a unique, historic moment in sports history. I felt electric, right where I was supposed to be. I was in the zone, as was Ashton. I remember kind of tip-toeing around, trying not to get in the way of the athletes as well as not getting spotted and kicked out by an official. Such an incredible memory for me, as a photographer but mostly as a life long track fan. 9045pts Ashton Eaton World Record Decathlon I spoke to Ashton later about theses images and me being in the tunnel with the athletes..... he told me that a few days before, I had taken a photo of David Oliver,USA, 110m hurdles, in the tunnel , that he saw on the internet, and kind of hoped that I would get a similar photo of him like that. I did. Thanks for the lifetime memory Champ! . ( many of these photos have never been seen white today)⭐️⭐️ . . . .
