Daimhin had only just managed to sit down, sighing with relief as he all but collapsed into the chair, when Ashwin came tearing around the corner, practically bouncing off a wall to turn and face him. Daimhin couldn’t help but groan at Ashwin’s worried look.
"How long has she been missing?" he asked, trying not to sound as put out as he felt. He could see already that Ashwin felt awful.
"About an hour, Bull was watching her and then she was just gone. We’ve looked everywhere!" Ashwin said, wringing his hands. He was nearly vibrating with his need to move. Daimhin pulled himself back up, holding back a second groan.
"Come on, then. She’s always right where we don’t look," he said, grabbing Ashwin’s hand and pulling him out the room and into the hallway, Ashwin taking the lead and nearly pulling Daimhin’s arm out of its socket. Once they reached the main hall of Skyhold, Daimhin saw Dorian saying something to a very shamefaced Iron Bull, his arms gesticulating wildly.
"…five minutes, five bloody minutes you couldn’t watch her, she could be anywhere and you know she loves that bloody waterfall down near the prisons, she could be-"
"Kadan!" Bull said, relief flooding his face as he caught sight of Daimhin, effectively cutting Dorian off mid rant. Dorian’s face was creased with worry, badly hidden beneath his anger. Ashwin reached out with his free hand to gently caress Dorian’s upper arm, seemingly soothing the mage. Daimhin began to feel a little more worried than he had earlier, despite this not being the first time she had gone missing.
"Where have you looked?" he asked, and Bull gestured around the room.
"Everywhere. You usually have a good instinct for where she is so Ashwin thought getting you was a good idea," he explained.
"She really likes that waterfall. I don’t want to think the worst but-" Dorian said, his voice wobbling slightly. Daimhin swallowed thickly, not letting the thought take him over.
"No. Definitely not, she’s smarter than that and anyway-" Daimhin began to say, but was cut off but Dorian squealing in surprise as a snowball struck him right in the face. The other three men jumped back as one, Ashwin recovering the fastest and looking at where it came from. Daimhin followed his gaze and saw Bea, their recently missing daughter, laughing uproariously while Sera prepared another snowball and flung it at Dorian, who tried to doge and failed miserably.
"Gotcha!" she crowed, and Daimhin could not help the bark of laughter that escaped from his lips, fear over her gone entirely. Bull laughed as well, before rolling his shoulders back and smirking at the eight year old, preparing for a charge. Her eyes lit up and she poked Sera, pointing at her qunari father.
"Oop, better get out of here," Sera said, flinging the girl onto her back and racing out of the room and into the courtyard, Bull hot on their heels. Ashwin ran after him, calling for him to go faster, Bea was getting away!
"Well, that solves that mystery," Dorian said, and while his tone was grumpy, his smile was twitching its way onto his lips. Daimhin grinned.
