You’re not exactly sure what time it is you’re awoken. The sounds of house life and the other dorm-mates create a crater of a headache in the side of your aching brain.
You’re not sure exactly why the bed beside you is still stone cold. Maybe the lack of contact, was what awoke you. Taeyong was due home what you imagined to be many hours ago from the studio. You had stayed up, waiting for him. Maybe that, was what had awoken you. The gnawing ache in your veins to be held. To see that one of your many lovers, was safe. In your arms. You missed him already.
No matter how quietly, patiently, frustratedly, pleadingly, wishfully or downright angrily you tried to scrape back the last hours of slumber; your brain was having none of it. No matter how much time tossing, turning, counting forward, backwards, silent songs or staring into blank space had passed; still, your mind raced.
You dragged your tired mortal body, up. Cold cotton caressing your skin almost carefully, unwillingly to let you free. Timidly, you pressed the bed beside you.
Wishful thinking, you scolded yourself. You knew he wasn’t there. But you couldn’t help the tiny butterflies that stayed there, with the thought of his presence being some holy kind of surprise.
Alas, that last swipe had smitten them out of your gut completely. A look at the clock told you it was half one in the morning, and lord knows you were restless. Tugging open the door from where you were sat, the kitchen and living space seemed empty. People were hustling in their rooms however; doors hung ajar and some closed. Some open with lights closed, or pitch black with only the whisper of sleep trodden breathing.
Slipping from the mattress, you sighed. Head pounding, the shuffle out of the door was more painful than it should’ve been. In your search for comfort, you had abandoned your phone. One last look into Tae’s room told you everything you needed to say, see, smell, hear. A lonely silence, in which you were just a visitor.

“Y/N?” Johnny’s voice is immediate. It seems the light is just too much; your face scrunches up immediately and your wringing hands fly up to protect as much as they can. His initial surprise and uncertainty are replaced with a soft chuckle.
Rapid clicking, the slide of a mouse. Hyuck was playing Overwatch, the loud voice of McCree could tell you that much. Johnny considered you, standing there so quietly, dishevelled, lost in their doorway. His voice was kind. Patient.
“What’s up angel? Tae wake you as he came in?” You woke up a little at that, before reminding yourself he was very much not here yet. The older boy noticed your reaction, confused slightly as to why you were so hesitant.
“No. Tae’s not here. Studio night.” You mumbled, rubbing at your eyes. Johnny nodded before moving to turn the light down against the floor, the action making Hyuck turn absently in his chair but allowing you to open your eyes. He almost didn’t notice you. But the double-take and end of his game allowed him to turn with a surprised but pleased emotion.
“Y/N!” He called softly, but a little too loud. He abandoned his headphones immediately. Your visual overload was now puzzled with a direct noise. You decided to just grunt in response, tongue heavy in your mouth and words distasteful right now. Hyuck continued, turning halfway and remaining chirpy as usual.
“Welcome in, baby girl! How can we help you this fine evening-morning?” You groaned a little, Johnny laughing at how cutesy he was being. The boys stayed quiet for a moment, waiting for you to answer.
“Mmhmph - I’m tired. Can’t sleep on my own.” You weren’t exactly sure who cooed at you first, but your sleep hazed confession made their hearts ache. Johnny shuffled to the edge of his bed to pull you into his arms by the edge of Taeyong’s borrowed t-shirt.
You skirted your feet forward, closing the door weakly. It caught on the latch, swinging back open. But you were too focused on being reeled into Johnny’s embrace, arms wrapping around your behind as the tall boy kissed your shoulder. The shy smile that spread across your face caused Hyuck to make a noise of cuteness, Johnny squeezing you oh so carefully.
“Naww, you can stay in here with us, baby girl. Tae won’t mind. Do you want to sleep, angel? Are you tired?” You shook your head at his caring tone. He smelt like home; worn sweaters, tangled sheets, pressed in pillows.
“No.” You said firmly, eyes still squinted.
“No?” Johnny repeated with a soft laugh. Hyuck scooted forward in his chair. He closed the door behind you and flicked off the main light. Before coming to stand next to you. You shuffled on your feet through pure frustration, unable to voice your thoughts. There were too many words, and you were too tired to even process them.“No…” You repeated, quieter this time. Johnny smiled, reaching up to tuck some hair behind your ear, still a little confused.
“No, you’re not tired? What is it, baby? Use your words, I can’t help otherwise.” Hyuck lifted his arm as he stood beside you, quietly. The soothing circles on your back alerted you to his presence. He smelt like caramel, sweet candles and cinnamon coffee. You were growing antsy, so dove to the nearest scapegoat.
That just so happened to be Lee Donghyuck’s chest. He laughed softly upon impact, slender arms curling around you. Johnny let go, waiting a moment before shuffling back into his covers.
Hyuck was never one for words when it came to negative or underwhelming emotions. Instead, he grew pretty reserved. The soft material of his jumper was cool against your cheek, and you unfurled your arms to hook under his armpits.
“Baby~” He cooed softly. You hummed. Johnny smiled, content, as he watched Hyuck draw you back after a few moments of being held. He found joy in adoring the two of you. Hyuck released you gently but kept his hands heavy on your hips. It tickled. He sat back into his chair, looking up at you with that famous pudu innocent stare of his.
“Come sit down, baby? If I play my game you might feel sleepy enough to go with Johnny-Hyung then…” You nodded, sinking down onto his lap. Chest against chest, cheek and hot ear pressed against his cool skin. Though your nose bumped the fabric of the gaming chair you didn’t mind and in fact, found comfort in the cocoon.
The two boys sighed in relief. Hyuck shuffled you higher on his thigh, pressing a kiss to your puffy cheek before pulling himself to the desk.
And he was right. It did calm you down. The noises faded to the background, and soon even the lights weren’t enough to stop you. Hyuck tried his very best not to wiggle his legs, or wake you. He even tempered his gameplay. At around 2AM Johnny finally called it quits.
“Hyuck, Y/N. Come to bed now ~ We have a busy schedule in two days, you’ll need the rest.” As much as you hated to admit it, Johnny was right. And your back was beginning to ache, Hyuck hooking under your legs after switching off the computer. He stood with a groan, you in his arms.
You’re not sure exactly you end up in Johnny’s arms. All you know is the melting mattress, loving embrace and feeling of innate and unconditional love lulled you into a deep, healing sleep.
A/N: Honestly I’m just gonna post this straight up because guess what, it’s a drabble and I may come back to edit but tbh just need this scene out my mind. Enjoy? And sweet dreams wherever you may be.
