synopsis — accepting an award for an album written for someone you once called yours.

“and the ‘album of the year’ award goes to… y/n!” the mc announces into the microphone. “congratulations!” the stadium erupts in applause and cheers!

you make your way onto the main stage. once you are face-to-face with the mc, he hands you the award and bows before walking away to give you the stage. you start off your speech by thanking everyone who helped make the album come true, and your fans for supporting your music for the past year.

you’re scanning the crowd as you speak when you make eye contact with him. your breath hitches for a second. he’s sitting with the rest of his group on the other side of stage. he’s in a perfectly fitted black suit. his hair simple, but still made him look heavenly. god, why does he always look so perfect. he gives you a sorrowful smile. your heart aches at the gesture before returning the smile. you pause before going on.

“i also want to thank the person who inspired me to write the album.” you break the contact with him, and continue on, “if it wasn’t for you, i would not be standing here right now accepting this award.” you smile, holding up the award, then finally ending your speech, “thank you everyone, again!”

the camera catches the stray tear that falls down your cheek. great. you step back from the mic, looking down at your award. you have to get out of here fast. the rest of your tears threatening to spill out. you flash the cameras your best smile to show your excitement and enthusiasm despite the tears you are obviously holding back.

once in your dressing room, you kneel onto the ground and sob. god, this is exhausting. having to pretend like your whole world wasn’t falling apart because of some boy…

the wound of the break up was still very fresh… you and donghyuck had been dating for almost two years before he decided to break it off a month prior. for the sake of both of your careers, he says… and you agreed.

although there wasn’t any bad blood between you and him, you still held resentment towards donghyuck. he seemed to have moved on quick from the break up. the way he was able to switch back to his bubbly demeanor in front of others so easily made you doubt his love for you for the past two years. was it all real? did he really love me? why is this all so easy for him? every “what if” chewed at every waking second of your day. it was embarrassing how much you let it bother you when he clearly didn’t care anymore.
