i can see the scenario like, they're running away from lawmen on their horses and matt's gets spooked for some reason and dumps him. jeremy calms the horse and they figure out it's because there is a MASSIVE snake just chilling in the sand under a bush.

they look at each other and grin, jeremy ends up (gently) stuffing her into a bag and they bring her home.

so she's a burmese python and they are usually pretty docile especially if handled a lot as babies, so i imagine she was some rich prick's fancy imported exotic pet and she got out and now she is matt and jeremy's. she is called gummy banana bc she is yellow btw if that wasnt clear LOL.
