question about prompts: do they have to be only a cliche or trope? or can they be heartstopper-specific? sorry if that question sounds confusing

Ideally, they’d be both! The prompt should relate to Heartstopper, not be just a generic cliche or trope prompt.

So instead of prompting “enemies to lovers” you could prompt: “Tara can’t figure out why she’s suddenly starting to feel differently about the girl she was always annoyed by. Could it be that Darcy is more than just the loud girl in her form?”

Or “Tao is the president of the film club and Elle is president of the art club and both clubs are trying to reserve the same event space for the same night.”

Or you could just say “Nick/Charlie, enemies to lovers” and let the writer do with that what they will.

The cliche/trope parameter is to give people an easy jumping off point, but we really encourage you to make it your own! (A little secret from a moderator: we’re not going to be heavily policing prompts.)

hi, is there a timeline for when the zines will sent out?

Hello!

We are currently planning to distribute in March.

Almost all physical items are in hand with the exception of prints and zines.

We have had to bring on an emergency formatter who has until the end of February to finish formatting. Printing should only be a couple of weeks. We expect to distribute by the end of March.

I have a burning question for the lovely mods…we know peter parker loves his legos, but what is his stance on illegal building techniques (brick bending)? Whatever it is I feel like tony is the opposite 😂

We're in agreement that Peter is a 100% Follow-The-Rule and Study-The-Instructions Lego Lover. Tony, though... Tony is all about the illegal building techniques. He tosses the instructions the moment he opens the box and lets his creative and exceptional mind go hog wild with the bricks.

Obviously, Peter's end up looking exactly as it does on the box. Tony's are a little more avant-garde, but they both have a great time building together.

When will the hardcopies be sent out?

Hello! Apologies for the delayed response.

Due to life circumstances, we have had to bring on a new formatting mod to finish the layout of the zine. Print files are due from them at the end of February. Estimated distribution has been pushed to March.

Thank you all for your patience! In the meantime please hop over fo Twitter for a video of the foil stamped charms that arrived today at the shipping mod’s house.

Only remaining items are: Foil Prints, and Foil stamped zines!

PDF will be sent out after all physical copies have shipped.

Hey Alicia asked me to write you earlier about a convo i had with her but then i got distracted -.-'. Anyways the concern I wanted to bring up was that your rules regarding what sorta content is/isn't okay are phrased in such a way that an asshole could potentially try and use the "all works are allowed rule" to start drama if you were to disqualify something they submitted (e.g. they wrote a fic that was really racist towards Sam Wilson, which obviously is not okay, but then they could go -cont

“Continued - "well its technically not harrasment or hate speech, so it should be allowed") I might be blowing this out of proportions, but in my experience when writing these kinds of rules its better to be very explicit ("any type of work allowed, except those featuring incest etc. or harmful tropes like ABO etc.") because the people those rules are for will often try to get around them on a technicality cont- 

Continued2 - But like, you also cant exactly list every bad thing you don't want people to write, so another way to go about it is to just have a rule that says "We can chose not to feature you if we find your work inappropriate for other reasons" - Anyways, i really love that you guys are doing this, and I'm sorry if this is just me being over worried cause of  drama in other fandoms <3″

First of all, thank you for raising your concerns and bringing them to our attention! It’s our first time hosting an event like this so we were bound to miss something. I don’t think you can ever be too safe and careful about things like this. The point is to have an environment where everyone can feel comfortable and that means making double sure that harmful, hateful, or otherwise inappropriate content isn’t allowed.

We have updated our rules to be more specific and clear, and have also added a section about what consequences follow violations. Hopefully these changes incorporate and address all of your concerns. Please feel free to reach out to us again if that isn’t the case and we’ll edit them until we get it right. We absolutely do not condone having harmful content/behavior as part of this event.

Once again, thank you so much for reaching out to us about this! We appreciate it, a lot.

oooh what are your other fests? always looking for more!

Right now I am getting ready to start posting for @hpdrizzle | it’s my biggest fest ever w/ over a 100 sign ups and we have 50 submissions already. Posting begins 1st September. Then, @hp-creatures is in claiming mode and submissions are due October 1. It’s a Halloween Fest so it only runs for 2 weeks. Then, I will probably co-mod/help out for @hp-mini-fest which is mostly a Livejournal fest w/ some announcements made on tumblr. I host a couple of small things on livejournal/dreamwidth. Then I also moderate and post prompts for @hogwarts365 + @hp-coffeehouse. In around April, I think (what is time?), I finished @dracotops-harry but not sure if it’s running again next year as this was the 10th year and tired people are tired. I think that’s it? (maybe?) I used to do more stuff but either my co-mod called it quits and I didn’t wanna carry on the torch anymore or I just gave them to other people (aka @rondracofest) which is in capable hands. I also work full time. So you know, I’m just ranting. LOL. I would love for others to post their fests in comments and promote, please!
