AAAAH THAT’s GAY DNJDJ BUT THANK YOU!! ✨✨ I’m glad the trans of genders unite over something, Granny Soap has existed even longer than I had this URL
Amelia MacTavish, known as “Granny John” is Soap’s grandmother from his mother’s side.
Amelia was a very religious woman who used her faith into her love, when she noticed Soap’s signs of dysphoria at a young age, she tried to understand it. She gladly referred to Soap with masc terms in private.
However, when Amelia noticed that her daughter and son-in-law were emotionally abusing her barely teenager grandson due to being trans, she took matters into her own hand and took him out of that household to be Soap’s legal Guardian.
Amelia adopted Soap when she was approaching 60s, her dark hair already greying, braided to the side, and as described by Soap, she had soft and sombre eyes of green, almost grey, often wearing dresses of different patterns that hanged on her chubby figure.
Soap took his deceased grandfather’s in military service (Amelia’s husband) name and Amelia’s family name in honour of them, “John MacTavish”.
After Amelia’s husband passing, she felt like she had fulfilled her life purpose, seeing her youngest daughter marry and have a child. It’s only for her to sit around, bask in the respect of the family for her as an elder and pass away.
However, when Soap proved to be in severe need for someone to protect him, to be his guardian when his parents failed him severely, Amelia’s will to keep going restored, seeing that she had an unfinished job to do even, if it meant cutting ties and headaches of problems, she still had to raise her grandson in a supporting enviroment.
Amelia’s ways of affection is cussing him out while also protecting him from any possible harm at any costs, her love was very strong and it’s evident in Soap’s mirroring personality, who has shown to love as aggressively and strongly.
Despite having minimal info due to age and time about being trans, Amelia spent great effort into learning and understanding, from both reaching out to the LGBT+ community, to listening to Soap’s needs of changing wardrobes and communication.
When Soap reached adulthood, he got a tattoo with her name (with her handwriting) on his left forearm on the veins, following the Vena Amoris belief. (Thank you @warcom for drawing this!)
Amelia had her very own Rosary, mostly around her neck but sometimes she prayed with it on her hands, it was one of the few personal belongings Soap tool when he got enlisted, wrapping it around his hand tightly whenever he felt lost, feeling her with him even when his own faith shook.
Even if Soap’s parents never came around, but double down on every attempt he tried to reconnect with them, Amelia was always by his side, assuring him and hugging him when he cried of thinking he’s a failure when it was the opposite.
In her house, past-time went by often with her in her wooden rocking chair, either knitting ridiculous stuff for Soap or reading (out-loud for Soap if he liked the overly romance stories) who had taken a seat on the ground nearby her and the fire, not having the luxury of a cat due to her severe allergies.
Through rebellious phases and inner conflicts, Soap still was close to Amelia, never missing a visiting day nor a walk in the park with her smaller arm in his, even as she had gotten weaker and “more” to handle.
Amelia passed away when Soap was in his late 20s, dying while knowing she’s around her family and knowing Soap is all well was what made her at peace.
Soap keeps all her belongings intact, keeping her close in his heart as he feels forever in debt to her.
