09. Do they have a favorite season? What about a favorite holiday?

Her favorite season is fall, she can’t stand hot weather so the beginning of colder weather is always her favorite time of year. She loves all holidays because she didn’t get to really celebrate them as a child. She goes a bit overboard now that she can and always decorates her home and invites all of her loved ones over for holiday meals. 

15. Is there a certain person in this world that they cannot stand? The very mention of this person’s name makes them tremble with anger or fear.

Beatrice really doesn’t like Lucio, she would never have gotten along with him (lucky for her he doesn’t get to stick around in Julian’s route lol). She also can’t stand hearing about either of her parents. She hasn’t seen her father since she was very young but she wouldn’t really want to see him again. Her mother died during the plague and they also had a very complicated relationship. Beatrice gets more sad than angry if her parents get brought up, but she doesn’t like to talk about them at all if she can help it.

22. What kind of tattoos, piercings, birthmarks, freckles, and other such unique physical features do they have?

She has a lot of freckles on her face and arms, not quite as many as Portia but still a noticeable amount. She also has a birthmark shaped a bit like a heart on her left shoulder and a smattering of scars in various places from previous injuries / clumsiness.

49. What is something that your character has nightmares about? Are these frequent? Do they heavily affect your character’s mood?

She has frequent nightmares about losing Julian, including a reoccurring dream about him not being saved by the Hanged Man which you can read about here  if you’re interested. Her nightmares don’t affect her mood too much because she knows that both she and Julian are safe now, but if she doesn’t get enough sleep she’ll be a bit grumpier than usual.

II.) What was your MC’s first impression of their LI? What about their LI’s first impression of them? Was it accurate or did them getting to know one another change how they saw each other?

Her first impression of Julian was “Uh, who are you and why are you in my shop?” (she chose to negotiate when Julian broke in) but other than that, if she’s being honest her first thought after he removed the scary bird mask was that he was hot. She also felt like he was vaguely familiar and had a sense of deja vu when he started bantering with her, but of course she couldn’t put her finger on why she felt like she knew him. She thought he was very overdramatic at first and didn’t take him too seriously

His first impression of her was that she really ought to wear something more than a flimsy dress when she answers the door to strangers late at night... although it wasn’t as if he knocked. His second- slightly more coherent thought- was that she must be a very powerful magician to choose the tarot card that, at the time, he felt represented him best - death. He was a bit intimidated to find her in the shop when he’d expected Asra. 

Their first impressions didn’t change tooo much, they still think the other is hot lol. Beatrice finds Julian’s theatrics endearing now and he’s learned that although her magic is powerful, Beatrice isn’t someone he needs to be intimidated by. 

VI.) Is your MC combat proficient? Where or whom did they learn from?

She doesn’t remember this, but before dying she was pretty adept at combat and defensive magic. When she was resurrected Asra was too scared to show her anything too dangerous so she had only recently started to experiment with combat magic when the events of the story began. As a result, she's proficient but not great at it and has more doubts than she would have in the past. By the end of the main story she’s got her confidence back and her old knowledge starts coming back to her like muscle memory. 

XV.) What does your MC do to get ready for the day? Do they have a routine?

She’s a creature of habit and follows pretty much the same routine ever day. She tries to get up early enough to eat a good breakfast before she has to rush off to the shop or the palace to help Nadia, but some days sleep is more necessary. She doesn’t take long to get ready, she picks clothes out the night before and tends to be pretty organized about where she puts the things she’ll need to get ready. The thing that takes the longest is her hair which always turns into a frizzy mess over night, she sometimes has to use magic to get it tamed.

XX.) What is your MC’s love language? What does their LI do that makes them feel loved? How do they reciprocate that with their LI’s love language?

Her love language is words of affirmation. She loves to be told that she is loved and valued, and it helps her feel validated when a loved one comments on work she’s done or compliments her. Julian keeps up a constant stream of compliments both big and small, and she appreciates every one of them. Whenever she’s feeling insecure he’s there to build her back up again. He makes her feel competent and loved even at her worst moments. 

I think Julian’s love languages are physical touch and words of affirmation. She makes sure to touch him often whether its an arm around his waist, holding his hand, or cuddling on the couch when he gets back from work. She makes sure he feels secure and validated, building his self esteem has been hard work at times but she wants him to know how much she loves and appreciates him and how he is more than worthy of that love.

7. Where is their bed positioned in their room? Does that bed have a frame?

Her bedroom is pretty much entirely taken up by the bed. She and Julian have a rather large four poster bed, it sits against the back wall of the bedroom in the middle so they both have room for a small bedside table. It used to be a canopy bed with draperies that hung from the four posts but Julian kept getting caught in the drapes so they decided to get rid of them (even if it’s less aesthetic looking now)

11. Is soup a drink or a meal?

“I think it’s a meal. Don’t you need a spoon to eat soup? I guess if it were a thin broth maybe it could be considered a beverage.. but then is it still considered a soup? This is going to keep me up at night...”

32. Wash their hair first or their body first?

She washes her hair first because she has a lot of it and it takes forever to get the soap/ shampoo out.

Green tea, sky, violet, fuchsia, oatmeal and shadow for the wonderful Beatrice?

Green tea - Does Tea exist in your world?  If so do you like it, and which kind is your favorite? 

Beatrice loooves tea. She acquired a taste for it while living with Asra so she finds it really comforting, especially when it’s cold out. It’s also an easy way to get a potion down if you’re having trouble sleeping or have a cold. Her favorite tea is vanilla cinnamon with lots of milk and sugar in it, warm and comforting. She basically only likes sweet drinks but she can stand a bit of bitterness on occasion in a nice green tea. 

Sky - What is your favorite time of the day?

Her favorite time of day is twilight, when she can come home from working at the shop and relax at home with Julian. She loves lazy evenings cooking (and probably burning) dinner with him and drinking too much wine for a weeknight.

Violet - What is your ideal date?

As long as it’s time spent with Julian she’ll be happy. She isn’t one for super fancy dates, she’d much rather have a picnic or go see a play at the community theater. Her favorite date she’s had with Julian was when they snuck into the palace library after dark and read snippets of their favorite books to each other like the dramatic nerds they are. They also snuck in dinner and Beatrice might’ve gotten so drunk she set a book on fire...

Fuchsia - Are you a generally playful or goofy person? Who or what makes you feel playful or goofy? 

She’s really only goofy under a few conditions:

She’s drunk

She’s had too much coffee

She’s extremely tired

But she can get goofy around anyone she’s close to at times. She and Asra have a ton of inside jokes that make her act like an absolute goof, when she and Portia get drunk together they also act like fools, and of course around Julian she has her guard down and can definitely be goofy

Oatmeal - What is your usual breakfast?

It’s exactly the name of this question lol, she likes oatmeal for every-day breakfasts because its quick (and she’s not a morning person), it’s filling, and it's comforting. As with everything she eats, she likes it sweet so she puts heaps of brown sugar into her oatmeal. She usually has a cup of coffee or two, also with heaps of cream and sugar. 

Shadow - What is your biggest regret? 

She doesn’t have too many regrets that she can remember, but her biggest regret is her relationship with her older sister Freya. They didn’t have the greatest childhood but they had each other until Freya left home to travel, leaving Beatrice behind. Freya was always jealous that Beatrice could do magic and Beatrice never really recovered from the betrayal of her sister leaving her to fend for herself. They had a chance to fix things at their Aunt’s funeral when they saw each other for the first time in years, but instead tensions rose when Freya learned that their Aunt gave Beatrice the shop in her will.  Things got so heated that it came to physical violence and Asra had to literally pull Beatrice away so she wouldn’t accidentally hurt anyone or set something on fire. A few years after, the plague hit and Beatrice lost all of her memories including the knowledge that she had a sister. After the events of the story, Freya unexpectedly shows up at the masquerade and they get another chance to make up (hopefully for good this time!)

4. Has your character ever witnessed something that fundamentally changed them? If so, does anyone else know?

When she was younger, she watched her father and then her older sister leave, and those moments of watching the people she thought loved her walk away really impacted her. She doesn’t remember them too well after losing her memories, and she has a chance to reconnect with her sister after the events of the masquerade, but she’s still got some pretty bad trust issues as a result of her childhood. Everything she witnessed during the plague changed her, she hadn’t seen so much suffering and death before and it left her feeling more determined to make the world better in whatever way she could.

6. Does your character have recurring themes in their dreams?

She has the same reoccurring nightmare of Julian not being able to survive meeting with the Hanged Man, you can read about it in this drabble here (not to self promo hehe)

As for happier dreams, she often has the same dream wandering across a beach at dawn with Julian and watching the sun rise over the ocean. He never says anything in the dream, but it’s calming to have him there. 

She sees the ocean a lot in her dreams, sometimes its calming and sometimes it scares her, it usually matches whatever mood she was in when she went to sleep and how stressed she is. 

10. Does your character feel more comfortable with more clothing, or with less clothing?

She gets cold really easily so she generally feels more comfortable with more clothing. She’s nearly always wearing her favorite green cloak over her outfits it’s like a security blanket.

17. What was your character’s favorite toy as a child?

She had a rag doll that she played with endlessly until it became dirty and frayed beyond repair. She still has one of the scraps of its dress saved, she doesn’t remember what it’s from but she still keeps it safe in her dresser with other trinkets from her past that she doesn’t quite remember. 

24. How quick is your character to trust someone else?

She’s very slow to trust others. She needs people to prove their loyalty and trustworthiness before she’ll open up and trust them, mostly she needs to feel like the person is going to stay in her life. Once she trusts someone she’s super loyal.

V.) What would your MC do for their LI after they come home from a long/bad/hard day? What would their LI do for them?

Beatrice knows that what Julian needs most after a bad day is someone to listen and genuinely care about him. She’ll light a fire in the fireplace, make some warm drinks, and listen to him vent about his day, undivided attention goes a long way. He also needs physical affection to function so hugs and cuddles are a must.  

If Beatrice has a bad day all she wants is to take a bath and go to sleep. Julian will run her a bath with the best relaxing bath salts from Nevivon and will usually keep her company. He’ll set out her nicest pajamas and make sure a cup of her favorite tea is hot and ready on her bedside table. She just needs time to relax and decompress, comfort and Julian’s company are all she needs to get over a hard day. 

XII.) What is your MC’s favourite type of weather? Why?

She loves stormy weather with thunder and lightning. She was terrified of storms as a child but she loves them now that she understands magic better. She can feel the hum in the air and the way that nature bends around the charged atmosphere, it makes her feel powerful and she knows that nothing nature throws her way can hurt her. She loves nothing better than to sit inside and watch the rain come pouring down.

5. On an average day, what can be found in your character’s pockets?

She would never buy or make a piece of clothing that didn’t have deep pockets, so the answer to this question is a lot lol. She always keeps a handkerchief (monogrammed, embroidered), she also carries a ribbon in case she wants to put her hair up, of course she brings money with her, and she usually has her journal and a pen as well. Beatrice keeps a commonplace book and writes down anything she finds interesting or important, she has her own version of shorthand so it’s nearly impossible for anyone else to read it. 

22. What does your character like in other people?

Beatrice really values honesty, she wants to know that someone is trustworthy before she’ll open up to them. She also loves anyone who will match her sarcasm and wit, she loves a good banter. She loves people who genuinely listen to others, she always notices who’s actually listening in a group and who isn’t paying attention.

23. What does your character dislike in other people?

She hates arrogant people who act like they’re better than others. She didn’t grow up with much so she’s used to people looking down on her, and she won’t stand for that behavior towards anyone. She also hates people who chew loudly because who doesn’t lol

44. How easy or difficult is it for your character to say “I love you?” Can they say it without meaning it?

In general it isn’t easy for her to say I love you. She didn’t hear it much growing up and didn’t have the best opinion of “love” or relationships in general. After the plague she didn’t really care about pursing love, she cared a lot more about learning magic, making friends, and generally learning how to be a person again. But when she met Julian she suddenly found it way too easy to say those three words, but she was able to restrain herself until Julian confessed. She immediately said it back and continues to find it rather easier than she thought to say those words and mean it.
