hi it’s person who asked about leaving comments in the rb instad of the tags. you asked if you were committing tumblr sin and i think the answer is yeah i think to most people on tumblr yes 😭😭 because when people rb it rbs with your comment and every subsequent rb will also have it so when it isn’t adding onto the post and is just a comment people don’t really like when people do that do their posts yknow. it’s almost like quote retweet vibes because it carries on to the next rbs and stuff but like it really isn’t that deep anyway so! it’s just kinda of an unsaid tumblr rule to leave comments in tags cause tumblr dont have a proper separate comment section but like i said it isn’t that deep so do whatever u want ig

opinions on the whole byler being compared to klance thingy going on right now

I think they’re comparable but not the same tbh? My overall takes:

I don’t think either show necessarily queerbaited. ST had good queer rep in Vickie & Robin! However, I do think their marketing teams KNEW what they were doing. If anything was queerbait, then it would lie in the marketing. I think that’s a similarity between the two ships.

Of course byler ≠ klance. They’re two very distinct situations. People can argue over whether either was written to actually happen or not happen in endgame, but fact of the matter is that super popular ships are always divisive.

What pisses me off is when people try to argue with each other about shit that doesn’t matter and start discourse. “How dare you compare x to x!” comments are just… not helpful. People have been comparing destiel, klance, and other failed ships for literally years. It’s just tradition at this point and it’s really NOT a big deal. I’ve learned not to care even if I don’t agree with an opinion because it fully doesn’t affect me whatsoever.

Anyone around Twitter or tumblr fandom culture in the mid to late 2010s remembers that 😭 ESPECIALLY superwholock

Tl;dr: sure vld and ST had similar issues. So did klance and byler. It is never deep enough to get overly mad because fandoms overlap and/or discuss shared experiences.

Whats your hc on supposed allies treating Keith like shit for being part galran? How ballistic does the team go?

I think some allies definitely treat Keith poorly for being Galra. Though, to be fair, I understand why many of them would have an adverse or cautious reaction to learning his background—when you’ve been subjugated by an entire race demanding purity and superiority, it changes your view of that people.

Expecting Allura not to be upset around Keith’s heritage after her people were literally erased via mass genocide is ridiculous, but she was able to grow and learn and come to terms with it, which I think is a massive sign of maturity. I think some allies possess that maturity as well!

Many of the allies have experienced similar sentiments from the Galra. They look at Allura’s people and story and wonder could I be next? So I absolutely think they’ll have trepidation around Keith, even if the team knows not to doubt him. That’s because they have the luxury of knowing him.

I think how the team reacts depends on the scale. If the ally jumps to conclusions, punishment, or harm, they likely immediately step in and shut it down. Those reactions are probably the marker of people who wouldn’t be good allies anyways, who don’t align with their values of understanding and respect.

If they are offensive, confused, or upset, I imagine the team to be more cautious and empathetic. The Galra have done so much damage across the universe, and part of that damage is honestly to the reputation of their race. It’s not Keith’s fault, but it is a fact that he and the team likely come to terms and learn to deal with. They can’t reject everyone who is scared or angry with the Galra; they have to prove Keith’s goodness repeatedly. It’s exhausting but it is worth it inevitably when they are able to slowly repair some of the damage done by an empire, gain trust, and demonstrate to Keith how to cope in a positive manner with this reality.

I think those coping mechanisms and methods of assurance are great for reducing his self-hate and helping him with diplomacy when he later leads the Blade, too.

shiro picks keith up from blade missions in a minivan when keith visits earth

they are both dog people :-) yes ik it’s common for people to associate keith with cats but KOSMO

shiro tried to prank keith one time as revenge for all the shit keith would pull and it went so disastrously that neither of them will ever talk about it again.

do you have any bg characters (or apart of the main cast) of voltron you feel could've had more development/been more vital to the main plots?

UGH YES.

i think hunk should have had an epic b plot that involved him and the balmerans and recruiting a bunch of allies through his unique charm!!! he’s a lovely guy and would probably be amazing at diplomacy in a different way to lance. hunk is amicability while lance is strategy

i rly wish coran had been explored in depth. he lived through some of the most extreme traumas in the show and still had a very upbeat, positive attitude. would have loved to know WHY and also had a few scenes with him reminiscing alone with allura. we saw him do it with lance but i feel like the three of them rly could have done a deep dive into historic altea through an emotional, first-person lens.

ALSO gimme a matt holt plot!!!! i love hot nerds

& i wish we saw more of nyma she just was cool asf.
