Meet Crystal

Personality:

A sweet and playful critter who loves invading everyone's daydreams. She is fond of speaking cryptically and only shows up to those who she thinks in need of her help. She is quiet harmless despite having mental-related powers. However, Nephelle, the spirit that controls her body at night, uses her abilities for evil...

Appearance:

Crystal is a bear around 12 years old who has a warm expression on her face and short orange hair that reaches her back. She is about 4 feet tall.

She usually wears a headband housing Nephelle on her head, a blue dress, black ribbon, white laces and no shoes. She normally has a blue eye color, but it turns to white when she is extremely angered (which is very rare) and shines bright cyan when Nephelle is in charge of her body.

Unbeknowst to Crystal, a melevolent spirit lives inside her headband known as Nephelle. Unlike Crystal who have natural inclination to magic, Nephelle relies on witchcraft. After a big mistake in her incantations, she accidentally trapped herself inside Crystal's headband instead of switching bodies. It's okay because she will fully take control of her in time. For now, she will be contented with taking control of Crystal's body at night...

In her spirit form, Nephelle appears as a bear with cyan eyes and longer hair.  In her physical form, currently she shares the same body as Crystal but with shining bright cyan eyes and usually a cold expression.

Abilities:

 She needs to touch her target's forehead in order to do any of this.

a) Dream Manipulation

 - she could invade anyone's dreams and manipulate it to her liking

 - this ranges from changing the environment to shifting it into a horrible nightmare

b) Memory Manipulation

- if one is unconscious with her nearby, she could "play" with their memories

- this ranges from adding ridiculously false memories to sealing some parts of it away

- Nephelle could use this to drain someone's memory so much they became a "base"

- accidental effect: life absorption

Also, I've seen an old drawing of mine that depicts Crystal discovering that Nephelle exists inside her headband. According to younger me in my notes, I'll make an animatic where she must fight for her own body or she'll vanish forever. Pretty neat, huh?

Relationships:

Crystal is the adoptive daughter of Top (Opposite of Pop who is known to go overboard in protecting his children) and an adoptive younger sister of Buc (Opposite of Cub, he never died once so he is extremely curious of death). Nephelle will eventually be her enemy when she discovers the truth.

Inspirations:

Appearance is heavily inspired by Alice in Wonderland

And her story is heavily based on Flower and Illuna from the text adventure game, Magium

Whew ok staring off with number 2. Character you disliked at first but like now?: Ok, nobody come at me for this one but I was never that found of Crutchie. Maybe it's because he came off to me as like a sunshine person. People who are overly happy turn me away, but now I'm alright after doing deep fandom digging and realizing there's more to him than just that.

3. Share a headcanon?- hand it over: Mush L O V E S dogs. Tries to feed the strays whatever scraps he can get his hands on and gives them all names. Can't find him anywhere? Go look in the back alley and you'll find him with at least several dogs sitting around him.

20. Does anything in particular remind you of a Newsie? (A certain pattern, colour etc.): For starters flannels/plaid shirts, anything to do with newspapers. Blue is a big one since I associate that with the Lower Manhattan newsies. The basic stuff pretty much.

6. Favourite dialogue?: So many. The whole "erster" bit. "A leg of Lamb" literally anything Mush says. Even though this is more of a song lyric another would be "watching all the ladies watching me" there's just something SO CUTE about that.

16. Have you read anything relating to the newsboys?: Yes. My mom got me a book called "Kids on Strike" there's a chapter about the 1899 strike, and I've done a bit of other means of research because it's so interesting to me.

15. A character you'd like to be friends with?: As much as I love Mush, I think Buttons and I would get along the best. He seems like the kind of guy who's creative. I feel like we'd be able to bond over that and bounce ideas off of each other. He also seems like one of the calmer newsies as well and understands the meaning of needing space sometimes.
