Maybe a blurb of the first time Bucky saw healer!reader? (I’m not sure if you already did this because I haven’t made it already through the tag yet! But I thought it might be cute/angsty depending on where you go with it 🙈)
i loved this request. so much. this belongs to my healer series, you don’t need to read it to read this! (you should tho)
It was dark. The tower is quiet, Stark, Rhodes and Romanoff asleep now. He knows that the new team healer has been in the Tower for a few hours now, and Bucky knows he should’ve met him when the team did, earlier in the day.
But he’d heard laughter and noise, knew that it was loud, and he wanted to be there, really, but whoever would have to heal him- it would be a lot for him. Bucky knew that, and the healer- he had to know that too.
So here he was, at 11 at night, standing outside the room of the newest addition to the team, and he’s nervous to meet him.
It turns out he’s wrong- about it being a he.
Because the door swings open, right after he knocks once, and he’s greeted by the most beautiful sight he’s seen in- well, his whole life.
The team’s healer is a dame- wait, no, a woman- and she’s so pretty, looking up at him with bright eyes and a smile, such a beautiful smile, light on her face and expectant, is he supposed to say something?
“Uh-Hi.” Idiot. Idiot. Idiot.
“Hey,” she says, her pretty mouth curling upwards even more as she huffs out a laugh, “You’re Barnes, right?”
She’s wearing a Stark Industries shirt, only a little higher than the pajama shorts she’s wearing, and he should really stop letting his eyes rake over her, it’s not good for a first impression.
“Yeah. I missed your meeting, and I just wanted to say hello.”
She beckons him inside with a wave of her hand, also assuring him that she didn’t mind his absence.
“I can’t come in-“ he blurts out, even though he wants to. She looks so pretty, and the way she spoke- she sounds so kind, sweet, like someone he would want- and that’s the whole trick of it, isn’t it? He can’t want someone. She’s smiling at him, bright and gorgeous, all the affection of someone good, someone who shouldn’t have to deal with the mess he is. “I have to train. Now’s the only time I can do it without Stevie hovering, you know? But I’m sure I’ll see you around.”
It’s a flimsy excuse, and something in him tightens at the hurt look that flashes across her face, but it’s gone as soon as it comes, and she nods, pats his hand before giving him another smile, her eyes bright.
She closes the door, and he lets out a breath he doesn’t know he was holding, and he knows that he won’t be able to avoid her forever.
Well, he’s fucked.
blurbs for this series are open!
