☂ - a headcanon about THE BEST WAY TO PASS A THUNDERSTORM
Hanji is terrible about checking the weather before doing anything, and rarely packs extra gear or clothes that would help in the even of bad weather. The result is generally getting soaked and freezing cold.
Erwin always expects this, even if it isn't until after it starts raining. He'll often put a kettle on and prepare a towel and fresh clothes for Hanji's arrival. Once his squadleader is less in danger of illness and injury, he likes to stake out a spot near a window, sit or lay beneath a blanket together and watch the storm.
☻ - a headcanon about SOMETHING THAT ALWAYS EARNS A SMILE
Hanji smiles a lot, but for those who have survived long enough, it's easy to tell when it's a fake, smile-because-they-expect-it smile and when it's a true, genuine smile.
Though it is considered bad form, Erwin does, occasionally, indulge in a bit of lighthearted sweetness toward Hanji. It feels like the past, when things were a bit less serious, and when their relationship was budding. He rarely catches the squadleader sleeping in the morning, as Hanji is a notorious early riser, but when he does, he will occasionally ensure a smile with a dozen tiny kisses peppered across jaw and neck. A sleepy Hanji is a Hanji that can be easily flustered, and by that token, can be made to smile despite any of the usual attempts not to.
☎ - a headcanon about DIRTY TALK
Erwin is not one to indulge in such behaviours, not just out of some sense of poise and duty, but because he finds such ventures to be awkward and embarrassing. He's always been rather discreet and feels no urge to say more than a few vague words on the subject.
Hanji, on the other hand, loves to whisper huskily into his ear about notions and promises of future fun. Generally, this is done during the day, when there is more than enough time for such thoughts to fester and drive him mad. He rewards this sort of behaviour with a swift reprimand... and a not-so-swift punishment. Hanji prefers the term 'reward'.
❄ - a headcanon about A WINTER DATE
Armed with an extra layer of clothing and a desperate need to play in the snow, the redhead is commonly found outside when there's frigid weather. Erwin isn't as keen to be out in the cold, but trusts that the companionship of his squadleader will keep him warm. If not, there's always a thermos of hot cocoa to make up for the loss. He prefers taking a walk, especially through the wooded areas, ensuring a properly enjoyable, and finite, time in the cold. It always drags a bit longer, especially if there is a pond frozen over that Hanji can coerce Erwin to skate on. It's not very dignified, but if they're alone, he will sometimes indulge.
✂ - a headcanon about GETTING OVER THE EX
It's no secret that Hanji disapproved of Erwin's fondness for Nile Dawk. Ever since training, they had a weird, borderline abusive relationship, and it took no effort to pinpoint Nile as the reason for it. His pushing toward the MP and general sour disposition affected Erwin despite his efforts to remain focused.
Hanji spent a good amount of time to sever that connection, especially after things went south, and stood in the way each time Nile attempted to bridge the gap his shitty attitude and behaviour had created.
To make up for being so harsh, Hanji spends a lot of time trying to undo what has been identified as the shitty behaviour, instead taking an opposite stance and overwhelming Erwin with 'good' behaviour. Being physically demonstrative, attentive and talkative about things is always a good start. Where that fails, good ol' fashioned disruptive behaviour usually works, and doing something that requires a lot of concentration (such as training, sparring, sex or some combination of the aforementioned) is generally the course of action.
