8. Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.
There’s an exchange in Mighty Things chapter twelve that I like: Leia, having exhausted all other resources, has to go to Cracken for help to rescue Han. It’s one of the scenes I had been waiting years to write.
“Do you know what Han has found under the khedive?”
“Somewhat. Not enough.”
Disappointment sat heavy in her chest. She had hoped the NRI knew more about that than Han and Leia did. “Are we right about the grand admiral?”
He smiled and repeated: “Somewhat. Not enough.”
I like that Cracken repeats the same phrase for both questions, and I like that it doesn’t really answer either one. Sneaky, sneaky Cracken. :)
20. Describe your perfect writing conditions.
Alone, at home, rain hitting the window, soft classical music playing in the background. I do best late at night, too!
38. Talk about a review that made your day.
Well, see, okay. I have the best readers. The absolute best. But if I’m going to choose one review to highlight, it would have to be the one that got me back into fandom. Ripley19 reviewed “Mighty Things” back when it was an abandoned baby. She didn’t badger, she didn’t guilt-trip, but she made it abundantly clear that I had a responsibility to finish that story. The combination of that review and watching the devastation of TFA brought me back and I have Ripley tothank for it. She’s told me to stop thanking her for it, but I just can’t get over the power of that one review. REVIEWS MATTER, MY FRIENDS!
