witness: the sardine (3 yrs)... he is such a mystery to me!
mostly grey and white, little stripes of light brown-grey on his face and a bigger patch under his tail. he had darker stripes on his grey patches as a kitten, but they faded as his fur grew out. he is an attention seeker with a pathetic meow, but he hates being held or sitting in laps. he's also shorter than the other cats i've met!
we also have a partial picture of his mom in the background of one of his kitten photos (but no knowledge of his dad):
OHH he is a blue (dilute black) tabby, with moderate-to-high white spotting! I cannot tell exactly which tabby type (i struggle with long-haired quite a bit haha) but I am thinking mackerel or broken mackerel, especially since mom is also one. It seems Sardine momma is a short-haired black mackerel tabby, which is very common! She must be a carrier of the long-haired gene as long-haired cats need two copies of it to display it. How cool!!! Thank you for sharing!!! (੭ु´ᵒ̴̶̷̤ωᵒ̴̶̷̤`)੭ु⁾⁾
Fun fact: A cat can genetically only be long-haired or short-haired. A cat displaying the long-haired gene can have medium or long fur, but it’s all the same gene!!
