hello, I hope you are having a great day! I (also) hope this is not a bother, but your sims are so absolutely gorgeous and I would like to know if you could share some tips on what you do to make them so perfect?
thank you in advance, lots of love <3
hii! hope your day is great as well! nope not a bother at all! Thank you so much for the kind words! i will try to give as many tips as i can regarding how i create my sims! So click read more for a list of all the things i believe contribute to my cuties! and always welcome <3 ⚠️BIG POST BELOW⚠️
So first i do exclusively use alpha skins at the momemt (i contemplated using alpha overlays so i can use all the cute body details that come as overlays but i am not there yet! ) i love creators skins like thisisthem, sims4melancholic , ddarkstonee, boatoam. those are all i use ATM
stack stack stack DETAILS! Dont just rely on one skin to do the job, use eyebags, use mouthcorners use scleras use eyeball shadows(pralines beautiful ones!) use contour use dimples USE ALL THE SKIN DETAIL CATEGORIES YOU CAN! the more dimensional the better your sim will look!
i rely on prodominately sticking you realistic face proportions for my sims (the sims that aren't mystical oc's or my art the series characters those are supposed to be more manhwa-esque) in RL eyes - nose - lip ratio is never one too extremely larger than the other feature they CAN get slimmer and more narrow but it should all still fall within realistic measurements.
high quality eyes like sims3melacholics,remus and aviglam are my holy grails! realistic and pretty eyes can really take your sim to the next level
PUPILS, NO cartoon huge pupils for me I never use huge pupils and i think it makes the sim look so much nicer and pretty for the look i go for. that isnt to say i dont use the idol contacts look because that is chefs-kis beautiful whn the eyecontact looks quality enough!
i have extended sliders mod because the ea size features are too small for my liking. (heads, foreheads. noses etc) i prefer being able to have less restrictions when making sims and the base ea slider limits are too limiting!
having a face-claim to finetune and tweak what the sim looks like is helpful too! my sims like heather(latest version) and moccasin have reallife faceclaims that helped me really nail their faces! ones like yulima and bennet do not so (which i personally hate because their faces could be ever changing with my indecisive self 😭)
start with no make then add it on once you are satisfied with the face. i need my sims to look decent without ANY makeup on so they can realistically take their makeup off on their sleepwear outfit , swimwear outfit etc without losing their identity/appearance because they relied on eyeshadow blush or eyeliner to look good!
a good hair with a decent hairline! i cant stress this enough but maybe im nitpicky! but super low hairlines or super skyrocketed hairlines will always make a sim look weird! so getting hair with a beautiful hairline is a must! i recommend wingsims, rama, simpliciaty, doux, lamz, stealthic, and epic! (all the mentioned secondlife creators are the official ones and not unofficial conversions so you dont have to worry!)
I rarely if ever make sims from scratch anymore, i have a few base sims i rotate because i KNOW they look good so making more nice sims from them is easy peasy. so making one decent male base and one decent female base to then use different presets and skins on them to keep your nice proportions but still create a brand new face is my go-to method!
which leads me to my next part! presets! presets! presets! you need to be utilizing ALL shapes and sizes of the face. not just change the ea eyes and go about your day (unless thatis your cup of tea ☺️) but i change cheeks, jaws, eyebrows, headshapes (which is one of my favorite parts because it can really take your sim to the next level really!) i even change the ears and neck! you really need to customize your sim to get the best of of cas
don't be afraid to let them sit in the gallery or other households and visit them a later time to do final tweaks and really get the best face you can! i did this with moccasin and havent edited him since and i still love his face! i let him marinate then gave him the final touches to really come to life of how i envision him in my head! sometimes our eyes are tired of seeing cas and it reflects on our ability to produce worthy sims of leaving cas 🤣🤣
OK these are all the tips I can think of the time! but I will keep this ask in the back of my mind for when i can think of more things i put into my cas process. Thank you for the ask anon, and have a great day!
