This headcanon/idea goes out to my fellow humans dying in the heat this summer:

During the summer the twins love going to the pool/beach- but they enjoy it in very different ways. Colt is the twin that’s always in the water; surfing, swimming, doing ill-advised cannonballs. Every time he gets out of the water he makes sure to give Ryland a show (he loves seeing his twin show off his body). Ryland is the opposite- enjoying the company while sunbathing or reading; sometimes Ryland prints out the latest scientific paper for some “light reading” by the water side. Of course Colt thinks his twin is a total smoke show- showing off his legs and arms while waiting for Colt to get out of the water.

Of course both of them love putting sunscreen on each other- anything that gives them an excuse to get their hands all over each other.

Bonus:

If they have kids (bio with one of them being ftm or adopted) they would turn into that meme with Chris hemsworth and RDJ and their kids at the beach- Colt tossing around their kids in the water like it’s nothing and Ryland carefully wrapping them in a towel

meanwhile colt’s getting distracted by ryland doing absolutely nothing because he so rarely shows skin that colt can’t help constantly glancing over and ending up staring for seconds to minutes at a time

and you KNOW colt specifically asks ryland to put sunscreen on him. it literally does not matter where. his face, his arms, his back, his legs… he’ll even pull out the puppy dog eyes if he has to (it’s rarely necessary, ryland will gladly take any excuse to feel up his brother’s muscles 🙂)

colt loves specifically when he gets to take off ryland’s glasses and carefully apply sunscreen on his cheeks and across the bridge of his nose because he can always sneak in a kiss at the end

i know exactly what you’re talking about with the chris hemsworth-rdj pictures, that is SO LITERALLY THEM. whoever colt is swinging by the ankle is giggling and laughing and squealing the entire time meanwhile ryland and the kid he is carefully keeping wrapped up and in the shade watch with similar looks of “i would never do that” exasperation 😭 like: “dad’s weird.” “yeah… he really is.”

Hello!! So I just finished your Soldier/King/Poet fic (sorry im so late to the party), and I'm so in love with it!! It's such a interesting things to think about how much better the galaxy could be if the Jedi and Sith could actually work together but also if you really think about it there arent true jedi and sith they way cannon has them. There are much more fluid and can actully shift with the tides. I have a lot of questions about it, but mainly, i wanted to know how Fox became the Lord Marshall of the Legion? And is he the be all end all type leader as in his word is law?

That fic series is the one I keep thinking about while I try to do my homework.

Fox was my favorite character while writing. At the time I wrote it I was still kind of newer to the star wars fandom. Having fox become lord marshall is pretty much because I saw everyone creating fox to be a really big bad ass. In cannon I really like the idea of fox being this deeply caring individual who's very reserved but every one of his citizens mean everything to him, especially his siblings. So he decided to take over.

Everyone in the Legion's chain of command kind of just saw that Fox was the most caring but also the most likely to get shit done. So the pieces fell into place after that. I was kind of hoping to touch on that later on. And possibly go into the formation of the legion. So my thoughts weren't fully formed yet.

His role is essentially the executive leader. All of the Grand Marshals are in charge of their divisions. Ponds is in charge of Education. So his decisions for his section are final. Bacara makes the final decisions when it comes to his section.

Fox has three specific responsibilities.

Certain roles like, military and/or Jedi deployment, law analysis, matters that are a conflicts of interest, etc, these are up to a group vote. (I haven't thought it out but there's more matters that the Command Council will focus on these are the ones that I've already decided are council roles.)

Fox is the tie breaker. There are nine members of the council. So Fox abstains from voting unless there's a fifty-fifty match.

I'd love to go into specifics about how the council deals with these issues. And what they do as a collective government. That might be a project that I tackle soon.

But this is how we get his second responsibility. When the command council discusses an issue. Someone has to put forth the problem AND they have to provide at least one solution. The other Marshalls will then have the opportunity to provide their own solutions. In certain events a period of reflection has to be given so that the Marshalls have time to do research and make their own plans.

But eventually the group will have multiple solutions and decide on one (or more, depending on what the problem is.) By way of a vote.

Fox and his office have the ability to propose changes to these solutions. Basically Fox and his underlings do a cost-benefit analysis. They try to determine what kind of fall out might occur. Edits are made for legal speak, to ensure loopholes or clauses are considered. I even envisioned them consulting with Jedi and Sith leaders as well as the other Coprs.

They just make sure that once the solution goes into effect, it will not only work successfully but have a positive, neutral or a minimally negative impact on their people.

The edits are once again proposed to the Command Council. Who then put this solution up to another vote.

Fox's third and final role is to put these solutions into effect. His office leads all actions put into effect by passed solutions. Thire, who is supposed to be Fox's right hand man, would be one of these leaders. And depending on the severity of their actions, Fox would also be involved.

These leaders consult with the various Corps and ask for resources from their section. If Fox needed the military he would be in charge but get aid from Wolffe's corps. If Thire needed relief then he would be in charge of dispensing it but would receive the aid from Bly's corps.

They have so many of these solutions that they need to pass and edit and monitor. So Fox is really, really busy. He takes on a ton of work because he's an immortal cyborg. But his brothers still want him to take more breaks and put more work on his underlings.

But Fox is convinced the decline of their civilization could come about if he is not personally in charge or at the very least responsible for all of these matters.

Would kinda match his behaviour, like he's detached and muted but is not disloyal, doesn't outwardly crave a close bond over a multitude of factors (hurts to let someone in only for them to leave the second he gets attached), he tolerates it however if someone breach it slowly. Limit on physical contact, another masked guy so there's a barrier there between himself and everything else.

He's always processing emotions differently, or at all really. Most of the things and events are easy to bury under layers of habit and duty. It's hard to feel them, it's just easier to...dissect, interpret, clinically examine emotions than to experience. Easier to detect and recognize patterns; how a smile works, what warmth is (tilt of a head, tilt too much to the left then it's anger etc).

Easier to see it in a distance, than to let any of it reach and settle inside him, whether he wants to acknowledge it or not.

Maybe that's why in mw3 he's just there, you know the scene I'm talking about.

Maybe he's waiting, watching, listening for that pattern and familiar rhythm he's came to memorized, the rise and fall clocked precisely at 1.2 seconds between each breath, waiting for his hand to swat his left wrist away with a cough.

But it doesn't happen, there's nothing.

Even though Ghost bloody knows (intellectually and clinically) that it's over, there's no pulse no movement no breath, the bullets gone through there's red staining his pants, there's also a large part of Ghost that just can't know it.

Can't process it, not all the way. But he also can't file it neatly away to the back of his head like everything else.

So maybe that's why he remained there even if the timer goes down and the bomb went off.

He can't let go, can't know how to leave, when to leave, when to accept.

How did Ryuken end up in medical school and later becoming a doctor AND medical director? Was nepotism involved?

I don't think there was any nepotism involved in Ryuken's decision to go into medicine. I've just double checked the wiki, but we don't actually get any info about what Soken Ishida does for a living (or did, he's old enough to be retired in canon. It also must have paid well considering the family's living situation), and I've always seen Ryuken as very separate from his family after he turns his back on the quincy and that includes his career choices. I can't see Soken being in a position to pull strings, and Ryuken would have resented him for it if he had. It would have been too much for his pride to take.

I see Ryuken's desire to go into medicine as a practical response to his views on the quincy after everything but the rain. Although I think the phrase 'Ryuken Ishida is not fit to protect the quincy' is more teenage angst with some contraryism thrown in there for good measure, I have still always seen this moment as a fundamental shift in how Ryuken views his upbringing and the quincy ideology. I don't think distanced himself from that moment onwards. I also don't think he distanced himself as much as he claims or has as much loathing for the ideology he likes to state (you don't build a underground training room or keep hold of tons of quincy artificats if you hate it that much) but it did get him thinking. I see his decision to enter medicine as his answer to what can I do that's directly in contrast to everything the quincy has taught me - saving the living is very different to saving the dead even if it wouldn't piss his family off in the way a teenaged Ryuken would have probably liked. I imagine he went to med school far away from Karakura town and only returned once Uryuu was born, possibly not until Katagiri's death.

As for becoming medical director, I think that was more a case of being good at what he does and knowing how to network. He might be solitary and not the best socially, but he does know how to say the right thing where it counts and is smart enough to know the right people to talk to. It's also been confirmed that he's canonically a heart surgeon, a position with a lot of prestige anyway, and would have been a good place to hone the kind of leadership skills you need for a directorship position. (I've just been googling, but I'm also pretty sure there's some kind of statistic which shows that surgeons are more likely to wind up in management. Wasn't able to find it, but let me know if I'm right). Throw in a ton of overtime as a less than healthy way of coping with Katagiri's death and you wind up with a dr who's likely going to catch the eye of the higher ups.

You were split between the possibility of the killer either ripping your face off with her bare teeth or her actually kissing you. You couldn't decide which was worse and you screwed your eyes shut as you wait for the inevitable.

But you weren't expecting to feel her other arm wrap around your body and the hand on your shoulder to pull you into an embrace. ...or you think it's an embrace. Your feet are nearly off the ground and you aren't reciprocating in the slightest but the killer doesn't let you go.

You don't move for fear of upsetting the larger Twin. Where is a teammate with a flashlight when you need one?! Ragged breathing and a shriek has your body tensing further as you catch a glimpse of the smaller Twin staring at you, glaring at you from a few feet away. When you still don't reciprocate the killer's hug, she seems almost taken aback, pulling her head away from your shoulder as she looked over your blank, frozen face. She drops you, to your relief.

And allows her brother to rip your face off.

He wants to be remembered as, if not a good man, then at least one who cared. He wants them to know that he tried, that he loved his country and his family with everything he could, even if it wasn't enough. He fears that the last days of his country are the only ones that will be remembered. They destroyed the history books with his home, after all.

It kills him to say it, to even think it, but for some godforsaken reason it's always going to be Schlatt. Maybe it's just because he's the only one Tubbo can't get it from, but he knows that it's deeper than that. There was just something about Schlatt, something in the little between moments, where his voice lost it's mocking lilt and it's laugh, where he smiled just right and ruffled your hair, where he taught you something new and you did it on the first try, where his approval would make you feel on top of the world. The first time Tubbo rolls a cigarette, Schlatt laughs, and pushes him a little on the shoulder, and says "First try! You're good at this, kid." and Tubbo felt, in that moment, although the bruise on his face from their last talk in this office still hadn't faded, on top of the world. He thinks he has been chasing that feeling for a long time.

Quackity is a very quality time and subtle acts of care type of affectionate. Some of it is just how he is, some of it is trauma from his relationship with Schlatt, but every time Sapnap remembers his favourite food or buys the shampoo he likes he feels a little softer. (Maybe that's why it hurts so much when Karl forgets.)
