♗:Your muse falling asleep with their head in my muse’s lap.
Darren didn’t know how they’d found each other in all this mess. It was a statistical improbability, but one he was well and truly glad of.
And now that they had found each other, he certainly wasn’t letting her leave. It wasn’t just that he felt there was safety in numbers, and it wasn’t just that he’d been sweet on her for… well a long time. He was terrified that if they separated, they’d never find each other again.
So when she leaned against him and dozed, it was a comfort more than anything. It reminded him that she was her, and that made him feel a little less like Death stood looming over him.
And when she curls up in her sleep, trying to find some way to be comfortable on the floor, and her head ends up on his lap, he’s not embarrassed or upset. He smiles in the dark, and it’s not the first time he’s smiled since they found each other, but it feels the easiest, his fingers coming to rest at her temple, stroking the fine strands of hair.
He’ll stay awake, for a while longer at least. Listen to her breathe, feel the weight of her head on his thigh, and pray that a night may come when they can be together outside of this place.
