4. What is your life goal?
Drama Queen: I want to be an engineer at either Disney World or Universal Studios, so I can work on rides and attractions
Jaybird: Be successful in someway; I really want to be a managing editor or editorial director for something in publishing, right now my dream is either WIRED or America’s Test Kitchen. It would also be nice to have a nuclear family someday, ya know a husband, a kid or two, a dog and a nice house.
Nerd Bird: I guess my life goal is to get my doctorate and teach history in college. I’ve always wanted to be a successful author, but that’s more of a dream than a life goal. Personally don’t think my writing is good enough for me to make a career out of it.
Demon Spawn: Life goal is to be successful. My dream job is to work for Rooster Teeth in some way, but I have a ton of back-up plans if that doesn’t ever happen. I’d eventually like to get my Master’s in English so I can go into book editing and then eventually go back for a doctorate.
5. Do you have any experiences with a famous person?
Drama Queen: Do the princesses at Disney World count? No? They don’t? Then no.
Jaybird: I waited in line at the Starbucks in Disney World behind Chris Evans once.
Nerd Bird: I’ve met Dolly Parton on a number of occasions. Got picture proof too! She’s an alum from my high school and also marched in the band when she attended, so we saw her quite a bit!
Demon Spawn: What Nerd Bird said. Also I’ve interviewed Damon Wayans Jr for an article for my college’s newspaper. Dude was awesome and is a total nerd.
8. Who’s your biggest inspiration?
Drama Queen: Um. I’ve never put much thought into this, so… Lin-Manuel Miranda? The man is a genius writer, singer, and actor, and Hamilton leaves me very inspired.
Jaybird: Probably Adam Savage. He’s awesome. I love how he doesn’t let anything stand in the way of his creativity and ability to make things. His also wonderful about encouraging kids to get out and do things rather than stay in and wallow in the internet by promoting STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) programs in our schools.
Nerd Bird: Jane Austen. Her books are fantastic and I want to be a great author like her someday.
Demon Spawn: Is music too vague an answer? I don’t think one person inspires me, but music is my biggest muse out there.
9. Do you have any cool talents?
Drama Queen: I sing and act if that counts? I can do the splits??
Jaybird: My mind is an endless black hole of random facts and shit. Does that count? I pride myself in doing well at pub quizzes. My mom thinks my ability to turn a phrase is a talent. She thinks I’ll publish a book someday.
Nerd Bird: I can twist both my arms all the way around! Does that count as a talent? Also, I play clarinet and write. I’ve had a poem published once!
Demon Spawn: I have this weird talent where I can name a song with just the opening chords. Also I can whistle songs rather accurately.
12. Do you like to read?
Drama Queen: Okay so I used to read all the time in high school. Then I went to college and I don’t know what happened. I don’t even have required reading that would turn me off to it. All I ever do is math. So I think I enjoy reading, but I don’t do it much anymore. Aside from fanfiction
Jaybird: YES! But alas my college schedule is crazy AF and I haven’t had time to read for funzies since like summer before Junior Year.
Nerd Bird: I absolutely LOVE to read. Being a college student hasn’t allowed me much time to do it, but I still try! I prefer classical literature and rarely read anything written in our century.
Demon Spawn: I adore reading, but recently haven’t had time to read anything new. I did read four novels this past summer in the span of two weeks though.
15. What is the best dream you’ve ever had?
Drama Queen: Okay, so, in Vigilante Dream #1 I was a crime fighting vigilante and was jumping from one moving car to another in search of the crime boss. I busted in his moving car and gave him a dramatic anti-hero speech before ending his reign as crime lord. Vigilante Dream #2 was pretty trippy. For some reason I learned that I could basically apparate from place to place, and I was trying to infiltrate the mob. So I don’t know who’s a good guy and who’s a bad guy, and everyone’s onto the fact that I’m not actually in the mob, so I’m being hunted, but I’m apparently pretty kick ass, because I can beat em up and then poof back to a safe place. That dream felt a lot more bizarre and surreal than it probably sounds. I should probably stop watching Arrow with all these vigilante dreams. Maybe not the best dreams, but definitely some of the most memorable.
Jaybird: All right everybody buckle up cause you’re in for a crazy hot mess of a ride (I used mod names instead of real ones so it’s slightly less ridiculous in real life)! We open on me, driving my Honda through a more residential neighborhood in Gotham, heading home from a day of work as a CSI for GCPD. I live in a nice house in this neighborhood with Drama Queen, Nerd Bird and Demon Spawn. It’s a kinda seedy neighborhood but it wasn’t always like that, it just kinda happened around us. So I see a house close to our being robbed and I think, “Hey I should radio that in to Jay when I get back to the house.” I pull into the driveway and get all my stuff, as a walk down the drive I pass Lin Manuel Miranda and the following conversations occurs: “Hey Lin whats up! Long day working with Demon Spawn?” “Totes Jaybird. We laid down some pretty sick beats for the new show though, you have to give them a listen next time.” “I totally will. Have a great night!” “Same to you chica!” I walk up the stairs to the back door and unlock it. I step in and see Drama Queen, Nerd Bird and Demon Spawn all helping with dinner and say as I turn to shut the door, “Hey guys there’s a robbery going on down the street we better lock the…shit.” That’s when I’m completely turned around and face to face with one of said robbers. I try to slam the door shut but his foot gets in the way and he jumps me with a knife. Six more guys enter from the hallway of the house coming from the front door. One for each of the other girls and three to ransack/rob. Out of the corner of my eye I notice Demon Spawn put her hands up but not without touching her earrings first, the same with Nerd Bird and Drama Queen except DQ lightly taps her necklace. All of a sudden this thought pops into my head “our panic buttons!” So now this flashback happens of the last Christmas when all of our respective batboys gave us these like emergency panic buttons disguised as different pieces of jewelry that subtly had their logos on them, super cute also. So I come out of the flashback and move my hands along the guy’s arm around my neck so I can tap my bracelet. Then I jump from me to being third person omniscient in the Batcave. Tim is sitting at the Batcomputer when all of our indicator lights blip onto the map. He shouts over to the rest of the guys in the training area as he runs to his bike, “Guys all of the panic buttons just lit up like a Christmas Tree at the girl’s house, and since they’ve never used them before now I’d say this isn’t a drill.” Cue swears and running to various modes of transportation. Back to my body! So apparently dream me is cocky and ballsy AF cause I start kinda taunting this guy that has a knife at the base of my neck. After a few minutes of taunting I try to use some self defense moves and it doesn’t go well. He pins me up against the wall and runs the knife against my cheek. It’s not a deep cut but I can tote feel blood and stuff. And then from the shadow of the room we heard, “I would super appreciate it if you would not do that to my girlfriend.” Red Hood steps out and throws two of the guys off his shoulders and onto the ground. He throws a batarang at the dude and then just charges the guy to take him out. At the same time the other three Batboys come out of the shadows and take out the guys holding the rest of the Mods. Then Bruce comes out with the last guy and throws him in the heap of unconscious robbers. “You boys take the girls to the cave, I’ll wait here for Gordon and tell him where you are for statements.” We all get taken back to the cave where Alfred is waiting with changes of comfy clothes and a first aid kit. He takes care of my cheek while the others go change and then head up into the manor. Jason and I get changed and then head upstairs. We all cuddle in pairs in the living room, us mods still kinda in a bit of shock and then Alfred brought us Hot Chocolate. Then I woke up, went downstairs and immediately proceeded to tell Mod Drama Queen about this endeavor that has now come to be known as “The Dream.” We often now rate dreams we can remember on a scale of one to “The Dream.”
Nerd Bird: I had a dream I was being swarmed by puppies. It was fabulous!
Demon Spawn: Hm…I’ve had some pretty messed up dreams, so I can’t really say I’ve had a “cool dream.” One of my most messed up dreams was where I was apparently a witch but then some stuff went down and at some point I lost my abilities and the only explanation I had was that my powers were artificial because my mom went through some ritual where her heart was ripped from her chest or something. I may have issues.
23. What would you name your children?
Drama Queen: I have yet to find a name that I just really like for a boy, but I really love Lucina Grace for a girl (I’m still Fire Emblem trash can you tell lol)
Jaybird: I’ve had two names picked out for a while. If I have a girl it is Ainsley Grace, because some iteration of the name Lee is a family thing on my mom’s side, and it’s also a badass character on The West Wing. If I have a boy it is Alexander Gideon, because the initials match with the girl (I’m totally going to be one of those moms) and it’s a character name from one of my favorite book series.
Nerd Bird: I’ve already got names picked out! My daughter will be Austen Riley in honor of my favorite author, Jane Austen. My son will be named Harper in honor of another favorite author of mine, Harper Lee.
Demon Spawn: Scarlet Alexandria for a girl and Avery for a boy (no middle name picked out for him yet)
24. Who’s your celebrity crush?
Drama Queen: Chris. Which one? Yes. (Also Hadley Fraser because he’s a beautiful man with the voice of an angel)
Jaybird: Matt Mercer. He is the lord’s gift to creation cause his voice talent is amazing, his hair is Fabio fabulous, he’s a cute precious cinnamon roll and he’s a total creative nerd like me! Have you seen him host Critical Role? Best DND show evar! I also have a soft spot Karl Urban but that purely because he’s a fine piece of Kiwi beauty.
Nerd Bird: I’m not sure to be honest. I don’t watch a lot of TV, but I see a lot of movies. If I had to choose, I’d say Benedict Cumberbatch. Dem cheekbones…
Demon Spawn: Michael Fassbender, no contest. #demeyes
30. Chocolate or sugar?
Drama Queen: I’m gonna go with chocolate
Jaybird: All of the above. Just as long as it’s not dark chocolate because that stuff is the work of the devil himself.
Nerd Bird: Why not both??? I’m going with both. I have a huge sweet tooth so anything sweet is fine by me!!
Demon Spawn: Chocolate.
34. What would you do in the event of an apocalypse?
Drama Queen: Probably panic. Then try to calm down enough to evaluate the situation and develop a survival plan. I can’t hunt or use a firearm, but I know how to fish, so that counts for something, right?
Jaybird: We southerners are kind of always prepared for that kind of situation with the ability to hunt and the like. I may not have shot a gun, but I am pretty proficient with a bow and arrow. All of my mom’s family, aside from us, lives really close together out in the country so if we’re not all radioactive and stuff, I’d probably head out there and bunker down.
Nerd Bird: We live in the South, so homegirl knows how to handle a gun. My dad is also kind of paranoid, so we’re totally prepared for any kind of apocalyptic situation. Not like “has a fallout shelter” prepared, just mentally prepared.
Demon Spawn: Find a secure location with food and water supply, make sure I had enough ammo to survive and then I’d stay put until I run out of food or have to abandon the area.
41. Do you like dresses?
Drama Queen: I freaking LOVE dresses especially when they’re A-line because they’re flowy and flatter my figure and I feel strangely powerful with a good dress and heels (especially if I’m wearing a petticoat because fluffy skirts!)
Jaybird: Yes and no. Yes because they’re cute and no because I don’t like not wearing pants. I usually wear like leggings or sliders underneath them.
Nerd Bird: I don’t dislike dresses. It depends on my mood.
Demon Spawn: Nope. If I am told pants are acceptable for an event, you bet your ass Imma wear pants.
57. Have you ever made a huge fool of yourself?
Drama Queen: Every day of my life
Jaybird: Most likely, but nothing comes to mind because it was probably social traumatic and I have blocked it from all memory.
Nerd Bird: I’m a goofball and a bit naïve at times, so yes. Yes I have. A particular example is me not knowing what a “dry” or “wet” campus was when applying for college. My poor guidance counselor laughed so hard she cried.
Demon Spawn: Well recently it came to my attention that a half up style is not called a bouncy baby like my mother told me when I was young. Long story short, that’s not what it’s called.
89. What teacher inspired you the most? How did they?
Drama Queen: My high school choir director has probably been the most inspiring to me. There’s a reason we called her Mama Williams. She cared so much about every person who walked into her classroom, and she taught us to never stop singing, even when life makes it feel impossible to find the song.
Jaybird: I’m going to do one from high school and two from college. My High School teacher is Ms. Teresa Lockhart. She was the bomb diggity and got me into Journalism and Design and really helped me find my fit with what I wanted to do as a ‘grown up.’ My two from college are the Doctors Doug Hensley and Derrick Edwards. They really count as one because they are literally a dynamic duo. You hardly ever see one without the other. They are hilarious and fabulous, and have helped me see that you can still be your geeky individual self and still be super accomplished.
Nerd Bird: Dr. Susan Laningham, the boon and bane of my college career. That woman is both terrifying and awe inspiring. She is what I hope to be someday, a knowledgeable history professor who doesn’t give two shits about anything if it doesn’t have to do with her classes or students. She pushed me to my limits in all four classes I had with her. I may not have done as well as either of us would’ve liked, but she still made a huge impact on me.
Demon Spawn: Dwayne Wright and Dr. Russ Yates Witcher. I’ve only had both men for two classes respectively, but both have taught me a lot in the field of journalism. Although I’m pretty sure neither of them know what I want to do once I graduate, I fully appreciate them for what they’ve taught me.
