ah... actually, we were only asked to tell you about your ceremony is for... or something...
so like, every generation there’s a ‘chosen leader’ who’s supposed to take over leadership when the current one gets too old, and those chosen ones are born with - what did they call it - ‘latent power’ that doesn’t fully awaken until they have a special ceremony to become the next leader.
[as artemis leads them further into the cave, it becomes a little brighter when they approach a pool reflecting the glowing minerals embedded in the walls. artemis sits down in front of the pool while orion lingers near the edge of the water, marveling at the water’s surface.]
see all the fancy lights? rigel says they’re like all the past leaders who died and became stars in the sky, and they start glowing like the altar when a chosen leader is near - though severus says it’s just because the altar is made of the same rocks as the ones in here. it’s how we figure out who chosen leaders are.
anyways, the ceremony for leaders is different because you have to, like... earn the right to fully awaken your powers. the leaders don’t really talk about it so the rest of us don’t know all the details of what happens during the ceremony, but the stories say that they get to talk to the sun. some stories say they even fight the sun, and if they can prove themselves, their fully awakened powers become almost as strong as the sun’s.
oh, and... you can’t just pass the ceremony just by being strong. i think you also have to have good leadership qualities, like gabriel. there are stories about leaders who became selfish or greedy, and they were punished by having their powers taken away... but, i don’t know what happens to leaders who get captured by humans...
probably something bad. that must be why gabriel doesn’t like this guy.
