I'm not sure about the movieverse, but in the books Snotlout is the definite second in line. He's Hiccup's cousin, meaning one of his parents is Stoic's younger sibling.
Yes. Baggybum the Beerbelly (Snotlout's father) is Stoick's brother. That's why he's always blustering at Stoick about how great Snotlout is (or had done that T_T)
But it sort of was confirmed that Snotlout and Hiccup are cousins in the movie!verse too. I can't remember if it was an interview or something in the TV show or what. Basically, I think Spitelout and Stoick might be brothers.
