how do you deal with hateful anons? I block them but the messages really make me wanna cry. I have a problem where im very sensitive to others anger or hate and this pressure is really bugging me
Depends on what the message says, dear. You’d be surprised that in all my time in Tumblr, I haven’t received many hate anons. Barely received at all, actually.
Most of the ones I’ve received had been call out asks, like, I did or said something wrong and I offended someone, so people are pissed at me. And if that’s the case I’ll apologize, edit or delete that offensive post, and make sure to not do it again.
I can put my finger on ONE time I received a hate anon out of nowhere, in this blog. I think they didn’t like the stuff I do and were trying to insult me (I honestly don’t remember it well), and I just replied with a screenshot that says “Ladies and gentleman, we have a hater.” And never heard from that again, nor I haven’t received more anon hate since then.
So, like I said, depends on what the message says.
If they’re calling you out for something you’re doing, maybe you’re hovering over certain limits that you might not see as bad now, but you need to keep an open mind as to WHY is it making people angry. And educate yourself about the subject. Maybe they’re right and you shouldn’t touch those limits. Apologize and don’t do it anymore.
If they’re sending you hate just because they don’t like what you’re doing (as long as it’s not offensive), or they don’t like your art style, or whatever, MY personal suggestion is that... Take it for what it is: someone’s opinion. This world is FULL of different opinions, and as there will be people that like you, there will be people that DON’T like you. Maybe your style or your blog are not their cup of tea, and for some reason they feel the sickening need to tell you that, but hey, be like, ok thanks for your opinion and bye.
Now, if it is those kind of assholes that are like “ur trash kill urself” or shit like that, PLEASE ignore them and don’t listen to what they say. Just take it as spam, erase their ask and go on with your life. DON’T reply, don’t publish their words, because if they get a reaction out of you, they will keep doing it. So PLEASE ignore them.
I know it’s never pleasing to get anon hate, and it can bring you down. If you need to cry, CRY, but don’t let them know that their message is hurting you so much, because people are sadist assholes and they’ll use that against you. Just, if you feel the pressure is too much, take some time away from the internet. Turn off your computer, go play videogames, or watch a movie, or go for a walk, or talk to someone, anything that will get your mind out of the business. Then when you’re feeling better come back, and think WITH A COOL HEAD, if you should reply or not, and HOW to reply if you do.
I hope this helps dear, and I hope you don’t get hate anymore. Best wishes.
