Amelia raised an eyebrow. “Sing you ta sleep?” she giggled, bouncing a bit. “Okay, I got a great song to fall asleep to. ‘S not boring, just nice.”
She patted Lili’s head with a grin, smoothing her hair a bit. Then she began to sing softly, the lyrics from an old tune she’s always loved.
Moon River, wider than a mileI’m crossin’ you in style, someday
The tone of her voice remained low and soft, contrasting her usual brash nature.
Oh dream-maker, you heart-breakerWherever you’re goin’, I’m goin’ your way
The tune began to take her back, her eyes closing as she swayed slightly to the instruments playing in her mind’s ear.
Two drifters, off to see the worldThere’s such a lot of world to seeWe’re after the same rainbow’s endWaitin’ ‘round the bendMy Huckleberry friendMoon River and me
