Damn, that’s a very dark history for such a simple an innocent little cookie, and seeing the “most” part is spooky, wonder who eats the ones that are made from Faery’s? Another question is the edibility of Monsters, are they all inedible for the Peoples, both sapient and animalistic, or can some be eaten?
No one suspects the humble fairy cookie...It's so sinister lol
In Seelie society, fae would never consider eating eachother or any monster. The very idea is just disgusting. Most adhene and drau probably feel the same.
However, these are species with privilege in their society. They have more wealth and easier circumstances than say, the pixies and kobolds.
Pixies and kobolds may not be as averse to the idea, simply because...well, they're hungry. They're broke. They're miserable and desperate. They're used to dead bodies laying around their slums all the time anyway, so they're not as disgusted by them as people who never encounter such grisly sights.
Combine desperation with these species' low intelligence and poor impulse control, and you have an environment that's ripe for cannibalism. Kobolds and pixies kill and eat eachother pretty frequently. Not because they want to, but because they have to. To make the meat last longer, they use Titania's old method of baking eachother into biscuits/cookies.
Now, kobolds and pixies are also known to sell random crap to whoever will buy it. Often this stuff is stolen. Sometimes it's hand-made goods. Sometimes it's street food. Your average fae might be reluctant to buy anything from them, but your average shopkeeper only cares about money. So kobold/pixie goods often get bought by crooked fae shopkeepers for cheap, then are marked up and sold at fae stores to unassuming fae customers.
Soooo...once in a while, you get baked goods and meat of a grotesque origin showing up in regular Seelie grocery stores, where they're bought and eaten by fae who don't realize what they're actually getting. They thought they just got a great deal on some sugar cookies and ground beef...they'll never realize it was pixie-cookies and ground kobold.
Basically, never buy "discount" food in the Seelie Court. You have no idea where that shit came from.
As for whether people can eat monsters or not...well, sometimes they can. Some monsters are more edible than others. It depends on what they were forged from. Some are made mostly of magic, and therefore have little if any nutrition. Some are toxic if ingested. Some disintegrate into dust upon death.
Kobolds, for example, were forged from magic, frogs, mushrooms, fae corpses, and random crap Titania scraped off the forest floor. So eating them would be like eating those things all combined into a strange meat.
When Titania instructed her strongest faerys to eat the weaker ones, what she really meant was "adhene and drau, you're free to slaughter and cannibalize the kobolds and pixies" because she knew the kobolds and pixies didn't stand a chance against these superior monsters. The adhene and drau must have gotten decent nutrients out of them, because this grisly meat kept them alive through their conquesting days. Titania's fae soldiers also ate them in desperate times.
Today, most Seelie adhene and drau shudder at the thought. They look at the cannibalistic actions of their ancestors and reason "well, it was necessary in those days, but we don't have to live like that anymore".
