Childhood headcanons-

Irene - She's not as loud or as easily excitable as Dorian, but she's very opinionated. She makes it a point to know what she's talking about, so on top of going to school and doing odd jobs, she also does extra study to keep the intellectual upper-hand with Dorian.

Dorian - He has no qualms about stealing, lying, cheating, and generally does so to meet his goals. In his younger years after leaving the orphanage with Irene he is able to pull at the heartstrings of business owners to get food and other necessities. As he becomes older his tricks work less and less until they are only able to get by by Irene's more honest means. 

Doria: Though she's fairly vibrant these days, such was not the case when she was a child. She was very quiet and lethargic. Her time in the research facility led her to become bitter as she aged, even though Irene did her best to undo the damage by giving her a simple education and teaching her hobby skills.
