Thank you to EVERYONE, that participated in this beautiful celebratory event for GiggleBug and my nephew Jacob!
Not only did this blog reach up to 204 followers, but so many of you took your time to share your art talents to my nephew.
It was just last year on the 15th of October, that he had his surgery for his implants, we were all worried that it wouldn’t go well, but he came out smiling in the end. Of course for a couple of days he didn’t have his hearing aids on (we like to call them his ‘EARS’) so it was difficult for him to hear us.
Then the 30th came, we were all so excited and curious to figure out just what would happen when they turned his ‘ears’ on. Would he look shocked? Would he be happy? We had been preparing ourselves with reaction vids of children getting their ‘ears’ turned on, so we were hoping for the same.
Of course, what they didn’t tell/show you in these vids were the real reactions... fear and confusion.
When his implants were turned on, he was so scared, he clung onto my sister-in-law and made the saddest of faces. But a few days later when they went to try again, his reaction was different and he was paying attention to every sound he heard. Even his own parent’s voices.
Since then, he’s been talking up a storm, learning words so clearly and able to tell us thing’s he wants or how he feels (at least for a normal 2 year old anyway), but it’s been a beautiful adventure to watch this little boy grow and learn and talk. I love my nephew so much.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart, my nephew will be so surprised when he sees this awesome collaboration of artists.
