“Hey, Barton,” said Tony, “remember that poodle your dog has a crush on? Her owner’s on the line. You’re gonna be a grandpa.”

“Why would anyone want to steal this thing anyway?” Natasha grumbled, as they looked at the artefact stored in a bucket of water... she assumed it had to be kept wet for preservation because it had been underwater so long, so they’d brought their own jar of water to keep it in. She fished the rune-inscribed, barnacle-encrusted tablet out of the bucket. As soon as she did, she yelped in surprise as her legs abruptly collapsed out from under her.

When Natasha got home, there was a dog sitting on the steps of her building. Since her arms were full of groceries, she used a leg to try to encourage it to get up and move so she could go inside.

The last thing Natalia remembered was a ballet lesson... then suddenly she was in an unfamiliar place with a boy she didn’t know. She bounced into a defensive stance, a bit hindered by wearing clothes that were somewhat too big for her. How had that happened?
“Кто ты?” she demanded. Who are you?

Hawk got down on one knee and tipped his arm close to his chest. “Your Royal Highness, it is my greatest honor to be in your presence.”
He looked up at gave her a wink, knowing it would make Nat smile, and piss off her royal advisors (who had never liked him anyway). “What does my Queen command of her Royal Archer this time?”
Natasha did smile. People asked her why she’d pardoned this outlaw, but she had her reasons, and here was a very good one indeed. “I need a very specific skill of yours,” she said. “We’re visiting a foreign court. The king likes to boast that he has the finest archers in the world. I said I’d bring my best for a contest.”

“Okay, we found a table with nobody’s stuff on it!” said Natasha cheerfully, as Steve followed her lugging one into the room. It was a big, ornate wooden thing with mystical symbols on it, probably belonging to Dr. Strange. “Let’s get this show on the road!”

A reddish Karelian is sitting outside Clint’s door, with a note at its feet. The note says, in crudely scrawled letters, Loki.
