Since succubi and incubi are often mentioned separately and they can't breed with each other, are they separate species? So if a succubus is pregnant the baby is always female and if an incubus impregnates someone it's male
Good question! I think they are technically the same species and they can have children of either sex, they just require the genetic material of peoples to make it happen. So, an incubus can have a daughter and a succubus can have a son.
This keeps their populations balanced, as succubi tend to be more successful at feeding and surviving than incubi. Incubi are less common overall, not because they are born less, but because they don't survive for as long. Since succubi can have sons, this prevents incubi from going extinct.
