Just so everyone's aware, the few modern AU things I have going aren't inspiring me very much at the moment, because my own modern RL is dragging and tedious and when I write I don't want to be reminded of it. x) They're drafted, though, and I'll get back to them as soon as things get a little easier!
"Who did this to you?" ((Yes, this is Maedhros talking to you at random))
"Would you believe me if I said I did not stop to ask names or to hear their heritage?" she drawled as she held the torn bit of cloth to the cut across her brow. One eye was left unobstructed as she looked up to the Feanorian and she started to breathe out a laugh before the sharp pain in her side made her reconsider the action.
"It is nothing more than the perils of being among the infantry and the leading line of archers, I assure you. I shall heal shortly," she vowed with a tone and mannerism more appropriate for her current company. He was not his younger brother, she did not feel so comfortable in his company to be so relaxed at all times.

It shouldn't have been this difficult to pull the sleeves of his robes and shirt over his wrists and hands, but Findekáno was reluctant to offer his assistance, mainly because Maitimo growled at him every time he attempted to move. But he was comfortable here, too, even with his cousin's weight settled on top of him.
He could have sworn his clothes didn't have that much silk, however. It had been velvet and satin, not the slippery-cool slide of the other fabric. So why did he feel it against his hands while Maitimo fumbled with freeing his arms from the sleeves?
Finally Maedhros moved, and Fingon made to sit up.
That was how he discovered he couldn't actually move his arms very much, and with horror, he angled his head, only to find his wrists were... bound?
"What kind of game is this?" he asked, struggling against the newly found constraints. "Maitimo, what are you doing? I'm stuck."

It was tempting to hum a little tune as he walked. Under the circumstances, Finn’s mood wasn’t as sour as it might have been; it was neither as cold as people had warned him it would be, nor as dark--
No, it was quite dark; they were right in that respect. The lights were spaced too far to light the path properly, and the idea of seeing by moonlight, while romantic, was laughable with the cloud cover. But Finn had never found it very difficult to see at night, just as his vision seemed to exceed theirs during the day.
But at the moment, that wasn’t helping him locate his keys. It was nice to know that he had three offers of floors to sleep on—no, one offer of a floor, one offer of an empty bed, and one sharing a bed, but the sentiment remained—but that was only a temporary fix, and he’d need clean clothes at some point. Tomorrow, for instance.
Up ahead were the trees were he’d shoved Teddy and been knocked into the dirt by Louie in the afternoon, which seemed a decent bet for finding them. Only there was an obstacle.
Finn’s steps slowed as he took in the situation.
Two men, each broad-shouldered (though one was enormously tall), seemingly squaring off, and two girls further behind them, though they seemed to be retreating. A fight? Oh, Christ. Instinctively, Finn pulled his hands from his pockets, preparing to step in and try and break it up if it came to it. But he was still many paces away, and there was still time for the situation to diffuse before it was necessary...
Is it true what they say about Valarin beer, or can you just drink one glass?
"I’m unaware of any rumors surrounding our beer. It would be easier to confirm or deny them if you gave me more detailed informations."
Once again, Tulkas looked around him, seeing nothing but hills, trees and bushes - several hiding places for the pesky elf he’s had an intimate discussion with a long time ago. A miracle that he still remembered his voice, to be honest.
"How long have you been there?"
Standing still on the threshold with crossed arms, Fëanáro raised his chin and inspected his firstborn with a keen gaze. « Long enough », he specified. He tapped his fingers on the opposite arm, counting seconds and staring at the papers scattered around the floor with an arched brow. He did not speak aloud his judgement, at first, not until he finally stepped forward and entered the room. The light of Laurelin and Tyelperion, almost mingling, were dimmer in the north of Aman, and the light that came from the window was not half as bright as it had been in Tirion. « Long enough to see you fill a number of papers and then throw them away. » He would not blame Nelyafinwë for that prodigality, when they had more than enough and he himself was prone to that behaviour, abandoning something in progress either because his attention suddenly turned elsewhere or because of dissatisfaction. Narrowing his eyes, he glanced at the desk – no, it was the content that interested him. « What is the topic that requires this much attentiveness, Nelyafinwë? »
