Jackson's curious smile faded as the anonymous shadow finished speaking, it's eerie voice sending chills down the teenager's spine.

But... it had only been a few hours since they'd last talked! How was it possible that someone so full of life and energy had died? Maybe it was age, or maybe she'd been lifted of her duties and her spirit let loose to drift as it pleased, without the confines her body presented. Maybe she'd go up to Heaven. Yeah, that sounded nice. Be with her family, whatever they were like, and maybe she'd be able to hang out with her friends from when she was a kid? It sounded nice, it made him happy.

Without realising it, Jackson had started to cry and, when he had noticed, he harshly wiped away his tears and put on the best fake smile he could muster. "She's in a better place now."

He unwillingly let out a sob and he bit into his index finger, "I, uh, I need to go."

With a cracking voice, he fled to the privacy of the woods to sit alone for a while, hoping that she was happy, wherever she was.
