Aww I love Ranger already! I hope he gets to use the talents he loves in fun ways without being exploited for it someday.

I love him too! He's kind of a himbo like Javaan, but quieter and more polite. He's ashamed of his poor upbringing, so he tries to act extra classy. Kind of like Skel, except he's not a dick about it lol.
MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW, SKIP THE FOLLOWING TEXT IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED:
Ranger does eventually end up living in Drifter's Hollow with his dad. Javaan tries to shape him into a fighter, but gives up when he accepts that Ranger just isn't built for that kind of thing. Ranger struggles to find his place for a while, then develops an interest in magic and starts taking lessons in photomancy from Mr. Ocean.
Ranger uses light spells to enhance his dance performances with cool effects, then discovers he can use them offensively as well, similar to the way Mr. Ocean conjures snake illusions to scare enemies. He approaches his father and says he wants to try mercenary work again...but this time, he's going to fight bad guys his own way.
He doesn't join the main crew, but Evan makes a separate "junior forces" crew for Ranger, Frederick, Azadora, and (eventually) Cinnamon. These crewmen are too young/inexperienced to send on most jobs, but they can be supervised on easier contracts to gain experience.
Basically I'm just setting up a new generation of Good Guys as the older ones start to age out and retire. :)
Is Ranger gay? Also what does Javaan think of his son crossdressing?
Yes, I imagine Ranger is probably gay. Javaan doesn't care about his sexuality or the way he dresses though. The thing that concerns him is Ranger's gentle, soft-spoken, and artsy nature.
Javaan knows how scary the world can be, and he worries that Ranger isn't tough enough to stand on his own. Ranger has gotten by purely on his good looks and dancing skills, but this "sugar baby" lifestyle can't last forever. One day his youth and looks will fade, and Javaan fears that Ranger won't have any skills to fall back on when that happens.
Javaan's only concern with the crossdressing is that people may look at Ranger's frilly clothes and assume he's an easy target to rob or something. At one point he does try to convince Ranger to dress in a more masculine, rugged fashion, but Ranger just isn't comfortable with that.
He wants to prove to his dad that he can be pretty and tough at the same time.
