Can I use frog juice to protect outside wood from the elements?
Sorry, I’ve been out of town and this got lost. You *can* but the question becomes if you *should*. If it’s for cosplay and you’re making a pair of wooden shoes/a wooden sword/a wooden umbrella (idk man) and you’re going to prepare for rain, then yes, go ahead. if you are hoping to make a planter for your patio that will be subjected to rain, or have made a new cedar post fence for the blazing sunlight, you’d do much better to invest in an outdoor stain (I personally really like marine varnish, because I find it works the best). Frog juice left outside on wood (instead of vinyls like it’s supposed to protect) will eventually cause discolouration, uneven weathering, and generally won’t look nice after a season or two. You’ll need to reapply it on wood after only a year or two on top of the other problems, whereas something like marine varnish only needs to be touched up every three to five years or more.
