WHY
more cries of pain to fall upon deaf ears ^
i saw a video of some guy saying people who do extreme caving/spelunking is lowkey a fetish, and apparently they call unexplored/untouched caves "virgin caves" and I mean .... I cant say it DOESNT seem like a fetish
theyre just playing random episodes of the live action Ultraman rn and idk anything abt this show but does Ultraman have some sort of mental like venom/eddie-esque homo mind/soul/body bond with this guy or something bc that's the vibe I'm getting from what little context I have.... when does he squirt/j
penosh will come and correct me but my understanding is that ultraman is an alien who needs a human host so a human will get blessed with ultra powers. i think usually they’ll be like about to die? &ultraman saves them by giving them his powers/the ability to call on him to “take over”. that’s my understanding at least. not sure when he squirts. should be soon. stay alert. hit my dms w what location this is that’s playing ultraman
also where do you stand (genuinely speaking) on the Did Vriska Do Things Wrong discourse
yes she obviously did things wrong she's a total asshole and i think its a disservice to say she did nothing wrong. she tormented a disabled kid after it was HER FAULT he was disabled. & is just an all around jerk even to people who aren't disabled. however her life outlook is effectively explained so without making excuses for her you can actually understand why she behaved the way she did. was it justified? no obviously not. was it juicy and fun to watch? well yes of course..... MYBRISKET. plus she does grow a Lot as a character but that also said even after her character development she is still a self centered SOB but i like her so thats fine. & the team needed a self centered SOB to get things moving at that point
Since you finished homestuck, may I ask what you thought of it? You can be as brief or as verbose as you want, I’m just curious! :3
hi yes i didnt really do a full review did i ... well i loved it but it really does suck. the plot is completely bullshit and confusing as all hell for no reason. it is strangely ironypilled for a story that is simultaneously taking the piss out of the concept of "ironic" interests and jokes. it is staggeringly of its time which is both wonderful and also agonizing. i wasn't boots on the ground in that internet era but i am acquainted with it and adjacent enough that it does speak to experiences i have had.
i love the quadrants as commentary on the pressure to categorize relationships as fitting distinctly into categories. quadrants don't describe emotions that humans can't feel, they just provide additional language to describe types of relationships that we either don't talk about or use much broader language to describe. the trolls aren't more "liberated" from normative relationships because they have more words. instead they just experience a more complicated form of pressure because they still are taught they need to fill every quadrant and that they have a destined soulmate for every quadrant. it is a more complicated version of human relationships that highlights the issues with distinct categories and fated/inevitable types of relationships. and the drama that ensues from them is super compelling and such a fun avenue for commenting on struggles with growing up and changing friendships and how needlessly complicated everything feels.
adjacent to that is discussions of sexuality, i was kind of gobsmacked at how dirk and dave's queerness was discussed and i found the different ways both of them dealt with it and the way their friends responded and how these experiences were communicated felt so honest and real. i especially loved the scene where roxy is talking about how guilty she feels for the way she treated dirk, knowing he was gay but feeling like he was "safe" to flirt with for that reason, without fully considering how it would make him feel especially since he was still technically closeted. that conversation, and when dave is talking to john about realizing he was gay, were mature and complex in a way that i wasn't expecting. the ability to have really serious realizations and conversations that didn't feel unnatural or therapized was really lovely to me. roxy and rose talking about alcoholism and their relationships with their mothers and each other was also really well done and impactful.
i think the characters are absolutely phenomenal. they are so unique and they all have such distinct voices and the typing quirks is honestly a really fun and 2000s way to translate someones speaking voice into text. i find the mundane drama of interpersonal relationships as a backdrop to such a batshit plot to be so charming. the characters and hussie's dialogue writing are carrying the story entirely. there is still a lot between them that i wish was explored more or got more screen time instead of making me watch fucking. midnight crew. or english when his head was a cue ball? why the fuck was it a cue ball. don't answer that. & hussie was there? dont piss me off. show me terezi.....
it was not as morally shocking as i was expecting. like at all. ive been informed that most of the ProblematiqueTM aspects come from the fandom or tweets from people involved in the series' creation. there's probably some other shit in the extended universe but ill get to it when i get to it.
basically i think it is a really shitty story that serves as an extremely effective representation of growing up online with online friends and how everyone is alone and far apart but also best friends & love each other & its lonely and scary and stressful & everyone is figuring out who and what they are simultaneously. it could benefit from taking itself more seriously more frequently. i think that is the biggest reason why it fell short of greatness
i know db isnt the first thing on ur mind rn but i am #curious if uve ever had thoughts on how much vegeta has actually explicitly laid out for bulma regarding his relationship w frieza by the current arc of dbs manga. like obviously at some point during the 7 year gap vegeta realizes that bulma has at least put the most significant pieces of the puzzle together (even if the extent and details are obscured) and i feel like this could go one of three ways 1) they actually do have a direct conversation about this topic at some point because it is relevant to the situation at hand and vegeta feels safe and secure enough to discuss it and afterwards when it gets brought up its discussed normally 2) although they havent actually had a direct conversation about it, because bulma knows the overall bigger picture vegeta eventually gets comfortable enough to just speak about the abuse like they have (i.e. dropping specific disconnected but relevant to the situation in which this is being brought up details) and its just kind of up to bulma to piece together a coherent timeline over the course of many fragmented conversations 3) even though they both know what hes talking about he still keeps things extremely vague but when speaking on it will talk like she knows exactly what hes trying to get at which sometimes she does and sometimes she so fucking lost. idk ive been pondering this for months but i havent really settled on an answer Maybe theres a fourth option i havent considered but this is why im asking you 🤨
i think something between 2 and 3. i think when/by the time that frieza came back bulma got probably the most direct explanation of like the logistics of his relationship with frieza, as in how old he was, watching his father interact with frieza, how frieza blew up the planet, and something about his rank and frieza’s disproportionate interest in him. i think bulma has been directly told some pretty specific info about what he was DOING in frieza’s army and how he got there, along with probably pretty flatly delivered, broad explanations of frieza’s physical abuse, but the fact that things went beyond that is i think almost entirely having to be extracted from context clues and sentences that end before they get to the point
ok now that you know both sides who truly deserved to win the christ figure bracket more karkat or archie knuckles. choose wisely and defend your position
archie knuckles. karkat is like if jesus' timeline got interrupted before he could even do the jesus shit. knuckles WAS JESUS. he lived he served gospel he died he rose again after three days. be SERIOUS here. but archie knuckles has a smaller audience and so few were willing to stand up for him in the face of a false prophet... sound familiar?
