Maka looked at her reflection in Liz's full length mirror. She almost didn't recognize herself, she looked so mature. She ran her hands down her full length gown and then through her hair. She had given the other girls full reign over this time to get ready before prom and though she had whined and complained as they pulled, curled, sprayed hair and applied makeup she was more than pleased with the results. She watched herself bite her hip through the mirror, she hoped Soul would be pleased as well. She had been so surprised that he had asked her, even to the point of convincing herself it was only as friends and partners. Even still she wanted to look her best for him, just in case there was a small chance he'd see her as something more. She took a deep breathe to rid herself of the anxiety that was building up the closer to leaving it got. The boys were already there, Liz and Tsubaki agreeing that the girls should get ready elsewhere and arrive after the boys. She was far too nervous for her liking, but followed the girls out anyway, heading toward the dance.

As they approached the doors she let the other girls go in ahead of her, feeling the need to catch her breath. Since when had she ever been like this? Since when did she care what a boy thought of her? But this wasn't just any boy. This was her partner. This was Soul. She straightened her posture and took a deep breath to build the courage she needed and walked through the doors.
