her voice breaks as she lets out a sob

*Icia's legs give out as she leans against the statue to not fully fall, quietly praying for the warmth that's quickly fading away for return.*

*Nova and Mirobelle turn into Vagas arms.... Vaga doesn't even have the energy to panic. He feels hollow, staring at the steel statue.

*Ode holds onto Samuel even tighter, quietly sobbing. He hugs them back blankly, unable to feel the tears roll down his face. Dunite turns away, trying her damnest to not cry.*

*Icia leans against Achilles, quietly sobbing and trying not to freeze everything around her.*

Lata wakes up to latte already awake, she walks back over when she hears Lata’s awake. Lata stands up and hugs her, kissing her on the cheek. morning.. latte nods, holding her close. Where's mallow? That was a good question. Latte looks around and finds no mallow in sight. “I don’t know, we should probably look for her..I can look for her if yo-” no let's both look for her, you want to see him…right. latte pauses for a moment before she nods. “yeah, yeah I do.” latte takes her out of the lounge and into the large halls of the castle, down the stairs to the bottom floor. She still feels so guilty for leaving like that, maybe she should make that up to her. After all it wasn't her fault to begin with really. As they walk down the winding halls, Lata leans on her shoulder. Down the stairs to the bottom floor, through the winding halls, and out to the courtyard. They stop in front of the statue, staring up at the sky with that big smile she rarely saw from him. She stares at him, at the man he once was and the man he has become. It makes her feel even worse for missing it, but as much as she wishes she could go back, she can’t. It's silent for a long time, latte lost in thought and Lata listening out for mallow, who is still asleep at his feet. Would you like to read his journal he gave to me in his will? It’s enough to snap her out of thought. “I don't know I-” I need someone to translate it for me, and it only feels right for you to do that. “are you sure?” of course I'm sure.

It goes back to silence. That at least reassured her that Lata wasn’t mad at her at the very least. She still has the ring box in her pocket, she didn't want to put it away for another time…Maybe now is a good time for that…The sun is shining, they’re in a special place with just the two of them…It would be perfect…“Would you like to know why I didn’t get the letter that morning..?” Lata’s head perks up a bit. “I was scheduled to pick something up that morning, and I got too excited to wait.” she takes the ring box out of her pocket and places it in her hands. Lata takes the box and feels it, the outside is smooth. She tilts her head, confused, when latte places her hands on hers and opens the box with her. Lata reaches her hand inside the tiny box and touches the cold metal of the ring. She then pauses at the braille written on the top; ’m y l o v e.’ Latte takes both of her hands again. “It was really poor timing, I know. I still feel like it's poor timing, but-” she takes a short breath.

“Will you marry me?”

Lata’s heart was already racing, the answer was obvious though.

Yes, of course! Always yes!

she wraps her arms around her in a big hug. Mallow perks up and walks over towards the two of their voices, she brushes up against their legs with a small mew. Lata picks her up and goes back to hugging her fiancé.

*He would have been very, very happy to see this.*

Isaac grins widely, and sniffles, faltering. He's only able to manage a weak smile through his tears.

I can't say I don't want to see them again. I can't say I haven't thought about doing what he did or that I never will again. And I can't say that- that, that I'm perfect, or that recovering was easy, or anything.

But... but, even with all of the stuff I'm still going through, I can think about the past with happiness, and remember the stuff I loved instead of what I lost.

I hope he can do that, too. If not now, someday.

*They smile at him.* You are very, very wise. One can imagine him agreeing with every word of yours.

Slyn closes his eyes and remembers...

The dungeon doors opening. Slyn looked up, shielding his eyes from the light. He hadn't moved from the spot Icia left him in, too exhausted and and grieved to try and get familiar with his prison.

A familiar voice pierced the air.

"I'm assuming Icia told you everything."

He bared his teeth, glaring at Achilles' silhouette.

"She didn't need to tell me shit. I saw it all."

"Then you saw how Hexe was finally killed. And how Ramiro was killed along with her."

"SHUT UP. STOP... TALKING ABOUT IT."

There's a moment of silence, only filled by stifled cries from the smaller of the men.

"Look, Slyn. I'm not here to scold you. Icia's already done that, and she'll do it more... so will everyone else. I'm just here to say bye."

Slyn paused.

"... what?"

"Raina's removing everyone's curses. Which means by the time you're freed, if you ever are, I'll be gone."

Achilles' voice was almost grateful, knowing he'd be gone soon. "I just have one question, though.... for years, you made it clear I didn't matter. And then suddenly, you seemed to care these last few weeks.... at least, more than before. Why?"

"None of your fucking business, I don't."

"Are you sure that's how you want this goodbye to go?"

".............. I don't care about you," Slyn whispered, turning away.

Achilles sighed. "I never thought I'd admit this. But you're a really terrible liar when you're miserable. But fine."

"Guess this is goodbye, then. Enjoy rotting for everything you did to the kingdom. I hope you regret it all." He got up and turned to leave.

".... I hope you reunite with your wife and daughter."

Achilles paused. Of course. It was Slyn who heard that conversation with Odette. Of course it was fucking Slyn.

..... but the slight hints of sympathy now made sense at least.

".... Yeah. I can't wait to see them again."

".... Good luck, Slyn. With whatever becomes of you."

Achilles left, and the dungeon closed once again. Slyn curled up on the ground in misery.

after a few moments she's out of sight...

*Icia stands there, the room progressively growing colder. Slyn looks at Icia, very confused by whats going on but not wanting to interfere.*

*She leans down and picks up the frosty photo.*

Do you want this.

.... no. I don't want to see that bitch's face again.

Good. I'll be keeping this and showing it to our other brother.

*She looks at him coldly.*

I'll be back to talk later. Because this isn't something that any of us are going to sweep under the rug.... especially not me. No matter how much more you may hate me. Because like it or not, we're both victims of our mother in one way or another, and we can't ignore that.

*Icia breaks her legs out of the ice encasing them and storms out, holding her stomach and trying her god awful best to not cry out loud. The dungeon door slams closed.*

*Slyn sits in the cold, all alone. He holds his plant closer.*

(.... I don't get it. There's no way she's my sister. No way. I don't believe it. She can't be. Right...? And there's no way I have a brother too.)

*He lowers his head, praying for sleep to come easy...*

she grabs a torch off the wall tossing the photo in it and watching it burn for a moment.

she turns to leave, looks like she's done here...

they say bye to slyn and go off to do other things, or find something else to do. Maybe hang out in the library.
