Summary: The Addams throw a party
Also posted on AO3
It feels like a dream. The moonlight pours through the ballroom in an almost romantic fashion and gives the space a soft, beautiful glow. Roman remembers how this room looked when full of people, alive and breathing as dancers flowed from every direction and chatter bubbled up to the ceiling. It makes him feel ashamed that the children have never gotten a chance to see it used. It's time to fix that.
Elliott looks around in amazement from their spot atop Remus' shoulders. Kai doesn't look as impressed, he's used this room plenty of times before. It's big enough that on those awful sunny days where the sun is too bright and offensive in the sky to go outdoors he'll skate around in here instead. Kai, instead, looks around almost warily.
"How many people are you wanting to invite?" He asks.
"The entire clan," Janus answers. Kai's mouth forms a rigid line as he grimaces at the thought.
"It'll be so much fun!" Patton tries to assure his cousin. Kai doesn't look convinced.
Logan glances over to his husband. The moon gives him a ghostly, ethereal glow. He looks absolutely breathtaking. "Roman, how long has it been since we've waltzed?" He asks softly. He reaches over and takes Roman's hands, and Roman immediately intertwines his fingers with Logan's. Logan used to hate dancing and always avoided it, but dancing with Roman is different. Roman loves to dance, and Logan loves to dance with Roman.
"Oh, Logan," Roman sighs. "Hours." He pulls Logan further into the ballroom and wraps an arm around his waist. Logan rests an arm on Roman's shoulder and instantly the two fall into a rhythm only they know.
────────
The house is alive as guests pour in and out, traversing through the hallways and the yard and the ballroom. Dancers twirl and spin. Drinks are poured and shared. The sound of voices permeates through every breath of air. It should be overstimulating, it should be unbearable, but instead Kai is having the time of his life. He was nervous to meet so many new people, nervous of whether they would accept him the same way his immediate family has, but the instant the first relative introduces herself to him Kai felt nothing but love. The way they wrap their arms around his shoulders, laugh and say they're so happy to meet him and welcome him to the family. They way they say they love him despite only having just met him. The Addams family is as full of love as they are darkness, with plenty of both to spare. Aunt Ophelia is currently teaching Kai how to dance. She has flowers growing from her head and she plucks one and tucks it behind Kai's ear.
Elliott laughs with glee as the Amor twins, Flora and Fauna, twirl with them on the dance floor. Their dress spins and pools around them as each twin twirls them under her arm. Remus watches in amusement before unfortunately interrupting the three to introduce Elliott to another relative. "Sombra, come meet your Aunt Melancholia," he says as he hoists Elliott into his arms.
"Spoilsport," Flora huffs.
"Killjoy," Fauna scolds.
Remus barks out a laugh. "Ladies, please, with your irresistible charms I know you'll be able to find another dance partner."
The live orchestra is in full swing, complete with a snake charmer of course, and Virgil watches them with enraptured awe. He watches one of his uncles as he effortlessly plays the violin. The strings and the bow remind Virgil of spider's web, and he wants nothing more than to reach out and pluck those strings himself. He makes eye contact with two of his uncle's eyes and his uncle beams at him.
Patton is easy to find in the crowd. His pastel blue dress clothes stand out amongst the sea of black and dark colors. He stands out, but is not left out. He's a beacon in the crowd, a bright spot in the darkness, and his family flock to him. Aunts and uncles fawn over how much he's grown, how tall he's gotten. They worry about his rosy cheeks. Patton laughs, he loves them all very much, but he wants to go dance with his cousin, Lumpy. Lumpy and Patton dance wildly together with no real rhyme or reason. They fit right in with the other dancers. "Papa told me I'm not supposed to curse my friends, but Michael isn't my friend, so I cursed him anyway," he tells his older cousin. The teenager nods with understanding.
Roman whisks Logan across the dance floor, the two of them interlocked in a dance as the moon dances around the earth. Both feel gravitated towards the other, unable to separate, unable to stop. The beating heart of the party, the current that the sea of dancers ebb and flow with. The song ends and another begins, and Roman lets Logan have a respite from the dancing. There's guests to be greeted, relatives to catch up with, and children to check up on. Roman's gaze turns towards the ballroom entrance and his face lights up as he guides himself and Logan over to the newcomer.
"Itt, old man!" He exclaims excitedly. Itt chatters back with shared excitement.
"You're right, far too long," Logan responds with a smile. They haven't seen Itt since Cousin Balthazar's funeral. Itt looks around the ballroom and his eyes land on someone who immediately catches his interest and he rushes off to dance with them. Roman and Logan watch in amusement, Itt has always been a social butterfly.
Rachel dances with Janus warily and she tries to avoid looking at all of the other party guests. Rachel would rather have a conversation alone with Remus than some of these other people that the Addams call family. Are they even people? Rachel isn't sure anymore. She tries to be understanding and accepting, she does, but she was raised in a way that she would never mingle with people like this under normal circumstances. How does Janus bring himself to do it? As Rachel struggles and holds onto her cousin tightly to try and mask her own uneasiness, Janus glides effortlessly across the ballroom, guiding his cousin in a polite dance. He's unbothered, happy even; an expression Rachel doesn't recall ever seeing on her cousin before he met Remus. When Janus had invited her to the party she had accepted with hesitance. The loneliness and isolation from the Bishop family has been getting to her, it must have clouded her judgement when she said she'd come. Right now she wants nothing more than to get away, but unfortunately for her she hasn't forgotten her manners.
"Don't let me out of your sight," she hisses under her breath. Janus merely raises an eyebrow. "These people are abnormal." Janus freezes, and Rachel realizes she must have struck a nerve in her cousin because he glares at her. Rachel has seen Janus' terrifying glower before, but never directed straight at her. If looks could kill...
"My dear cousin," his voice is stiff and cold, "the only abnormal one in this room right now is you." He doesn't give Rachel time to process his words before once again resuming their dance, whisking her right back from where they had left off and almost making Rachel trip over herself.
Rachel feels someone tap the back of her shoulder and she sees Janus' face light up. When she turns around she has to hold back a shriek of horror at the sight in front of her. Is this even a person? They're completely covered in hair and when they speak all Rachel can hear is absolute nonsense and gibberish.
"Cousin Itt, this is my cousin, Rachel," Janus introduces happily. The creature Rachel now knows is named Itt chitters again and Janus nods. "Why certainly." Before Rachel can realize what's happening Janus hands her off to this thing and Itt leads Rachel away to dance. Rachel stares at Janus in shock and Janus stares back in smug amusement.
Rachel knows Janus knows what he's doing. Unlike everyone else, at least to Rachel's knowledge, Janus wasn't raised with these people in this environment. He grew up around sane, normal people. Rachel knows Janus knows how strange Itt is and everyone else, she knows he knows how disturbing this must be for her. Is this revenge for her earlier comment?
Janus saunters off to find Remus, who perks up at the sight of his husband. "I thought you were dancing with Rachel?" He asks.
"She has another dance partner. Come, mon sauvage." Janus holds out his hand and Remus instantly takes it, and the two of them take off to the dance floor together.
Remus smiles at Janus, that manic smile with too many teeth that Janus loves so much. "Everyone loves Kai and Elliott," he tells him.
"I knew they would," Janus says with contentment.
Remus takes control long enough to position Janus where he can see where Elliott is. "Look." Across the ballroom Digit Addams is using two of his arms to hold and dance with Elliott while using his other two to dance with his wife, Heidi. Janus smiles fondly.
Jasper Addams-Verdell watches the crowd fondly as he sits at one of the tables against the wall. He's never been one for dancing, he's much too clumsy and awkward, so instead he watches while relatives come and go to engage in polite and grotesque conversation. When he had received the invitation from Roman and Remus he immediately put all other plans on hold, no matter how important the state department insisted they were. He's been so busy with work that a break to go spend time with family was too tempting to pass up on. It's much more comforting to be surrounded by the familiar reprobates and criminals that are his family instead of the reprobates and criminals that are strangers over in DC. As Jasper takes another sip from his drink he notices Virgil pouring contents from a vial into one of the punch bowls. Ah, kids.
"Jasper!" Roman's voice booms happily a few feet away and Jasper turns his head to face him. Roman rushes over and presses a kiss to his cheek. "How have you been, my darling?"
Jasper beams at his cousin and then shakes hands with Logan, almost knocking over his drink in the process. "I've been busy but well. How are you holding up?"
"Things have never been better," Roman sighs happily as he takes a seat with Jasper at the table. Logan nods in agreement.
"Washington treating you well?" Logan asks. Jasper nods.
"Oh, yes." Jasper adjusts his glasses. "Plenty of enemies, I feel like I belong there."
"That's wonderful to hear."
"Oh, Kai, my boy! Come meet Cousin Jasper!" Roman beckons for Kai to come over to their table and Jasper smiles.
"It's wonderful to finally meet you. I'm so happy you're a part of our family," Jasper tells him. Kai smiles.
"Jasper works for the state department in Washington DC," Roman tells Kai. Kai scrunches his nose.
"Why the fuck would you want to work in politics?" He asks. Jasper barks out a laugh and glances over to where Remus is across the ballroom. Definitely his father's son.
"It's actually rather thrilling, you never know who to trust," Jasper tells him. Kai nods; this seems to be an acceptable answer.
Roman and Logan excuse themselves to go dance again. Kai stays with Jasper to listen to his stories about backstabbing and lying in DC. Elliott dances with Slosh Addams and his wife Lois Addams. An uncle uses his long arms to lift Patton into the air so that Patton can swing from the chandelier. Virgil stares as his cousins Donald and Dexter strike up conversation. As Remus swings Janus around the ballroom Janus looks around fondly at his family. He never thought he would have a family so close and loving as he does now. He wishes Rachel would be willing to become a part of it.
Outside on the balcony Rachel is looking out at the family cemetery along with Itt. He's been such a delight to dance with and talk to. He asks about her and he listens when she speaks, and when she asks about him he always says the most interesting things. Right now Rachel stares up at the night sky with a sigh. "We had been married for almost fifteen years," she tells Itt. He had asked about her, about her life, and now they've ended up at this chapter of her life. Itt asks if she still has feelings for her ex husband. "Well... people grow, people change," she answers with a small smile. Itt's response makes her giggle and she can't help but lean closer to him. Talking to Itt is so easy, she doesn't want this to end. She looks out at the cemetery, at all the graves laid out ahead of her. "Isn't it a beautiful night?"
The party goes on for hours but it still doesn't feel long enough. As it's finally winding down Roman and Logan and Janus and Remus stand by the entrance to wish all their guests goodbye and to see them off. It's a shame to see them all leave, but Roman and Remus have sworn they won't let such a long period of time go by without another family gathering.
Rachel stays with Itt for as long as she can and she speaks with him through his car window. "You're a marvelous dancer. It's been such fun." Itt suggests she get in the car and they go off together. "Oh I can't, we mustn't" Itt says goodbye and begins to drive off and Rachel watches as he leaves. "Call me!"
Janus walks over to his cousin's side and gives her a smile. "Did you enjoy yourself tonight?"
"I did," she answers genuinely as she looks over to him. His smiles grows as he begins to walk her to her own car.
"I knew you would fit right in," he tells her as he opens her car door. "You're part of our family." Rachel freezes at his words and Janus can practically see her mind reeling. He patiently waits for her answer as she processes everything that's happened tonight.
"...I suppose I am... Goodnight, Janus."
"Goodnight, Rachel." Janus closes her car door for her and watches as she drives off.
Inside the now empty ballroom Roman and Logan are looking for Patton so they can put him to bed. Roman lifts up the lid to a serving dish and Patton is curled up underneath. "Look, our little boy," Roman whispers to Logan.
Logan smiles with amusement. "All tuckered out."
"It's so sweet. He looks just like a little entree," Roman coos. He carefully lifts Patton up into his arms, doing his best to not wake up the dear boy.
Kai looks back into his bedroom from his bathroom. He had been talking with Virgil and Elliott, but Elliott had passed out on Kai's bed and Virgil left to go feed some of his spiders. Kai doesn't have the heart to wake up his younger sibling so when he's done brushing his teeth he gently pushes Elliott over and climbs into bed next to him. Elliott is little, they don't take up much room. Before falling asleep Kai stares up at the ceiling. He had been so nervous about the party, nervous about meeting so many new people, but never once did Kai feel out of place. The two siblings sleep peacefully next to each other as they remember how loved they had been that night.

Remus stares down at the canvas, biting down on the end of his paintbrush as he tries to think of how he could improve his work. He's been awake for hours, his busy mind filling his head with too many exhilarating thoughts of death and violence and agony to entertain the idea of going back to bed. His hand goes back to the canvas, trailing the paintbrush across the surface as he tries to bring these lovely thoughts to life. A ray of sunlight spills into his study. It peeks over the horizon and through the window, snapping Remus out of his focus most unpleasantly. Remus huffs and rushes over to slam the window shutters closed, but his focus is gone and the flow is ruined. It's with another huff he puts the paintbrush down and decides to go back to his bedroom, back to Janus. He'll show Janus the painting later and get his input; Janus always has a wonderful eye for detail. As he makes his way up towards his bedroom he hears swords clashing from Roman's study, and he smiles with amusement and quickens his steps to give his twin and brother-in-law privacy.
Remus is frozen in his tracks at the sight of Janus in bed. He looks so beautiful, still and peaceful. Like a corpse. His beautiful hair is wrapped up in a silk bonnet and Remus isn't the least bit ashamed that his eyes trail to his husband's bare chest. Janus' beauty is ethereal and otherworldly, and every time Remus touches him he feels as though he's tainting the most beautiful work of art. It gives him such a thrill each time. Staring down at his husband Remus feels overwhelmed. He would die for Janus, he would kill for Janus. Either way, what bliss.
Janus stirs and slowly opens his eyes and Remus perks up. "Unhappy, darling?" He asks fondly. Janus gives him a sleepy smile.
"Oh, yes. Yes, completely." Janus sits up slightly, resting on his elbows as he smiles up at his husband. Another ray of sunlight penetrates through the window, shining harshly onto Janus' face and making him wince. He quickly raises a hand to guard his eyes. "Remus, the sun. Il me perce comme un poignard."
Remus inhales sharply and feels the words stab straight into his core. "Janus, that's French."
"Oui."
"Querido." Without a second thought (Remus finds it hard to think when Janus speaks French) Remus grabs a sword and points it towards the windows. "En guarde, monsieur Soleil." With an expert strike he swipes the shutters closed with the blade and turns back to Janus. He sticks the sword down into the floor and smiles, now able to once again stare at his beloved without the harsh, dreadful sunlight.
"Remus..."
"Janus."
Janus stares up at Remus from the bed. The expression on his face is both loving and cautious. "Last night you were... unhinged. You were like some desperate howling demon."
Remus slowly begins to step towards the bed.
"You frightened me." A smile appears on Janus' face and he gives Remus a look he knows Remus can never resist. "Do it again."
Logan adjusts his tie one last time using his reflection in a suit of armor. Roman comes up behind him and wraps his arms around Logan and pulls him close.
"You're such a skilled swordsman, mi amor," Roman says softly before pressing a kiss to Logan's neck. Logan smiles fondly. Roman's belt is still undone and his shirt still unbuttoned, and Logan can see the fresh, newly cleaned wound he had left across Roman's chest. There once was a time Logan always felt guilty when he managed to strike or slash Roman during their duels, but that was long ago. Roman always loves it so much, how could Logan refuse?
"I learned from the best," Logan hums with amusement as he turns to face Roman. "Let me bandage that up, darling, you wait here."
Roman presses a kiss to Logan's forehead. "Don't be long now."
As Logan hurries down the hallway he hears commotion coming from the basement. Curiously he goes down and peeks his head in, and he finds Virgil standing near one of the far walls with a brick in hand.
"What are you up to?" He asks.
Virgil turns around to face his father. "I'm playing The Cask of Amontillado with Elliott."
Logan smiles fondly. "Alright, you two have fun." The two children call after him "We will" as he turns around to go back upstairs and finally get the bandages for Roman.
Roman is cold to the touch, he always is, as Logan begins to bandage up the wound. He takes a moment to admire the wound. It will scar nicely, and the ecstatic expression on Roman's face makes Logan let out a soft, fond chuckle and lean in to kiss him. Roman doesn't have as many scars as his brother, but that doesn't mean he is without. There are small scars, either from childhood or from Logan, scattered across his body as well as his top surgery scars. Roman wears all of them proudly.
Roman reaching down to try and trace the new wound with his fingers snaps Logan out of his thoughts and he grabs Roman's wrist. "I just cleaned it, don't touch it," he chides softly. Roman lets out a small huff and lets Logan dress the wound properly. The two sit in a comfortable silence. Logan can tell Roman is staring at him, Roman rarely stares at anything else. "Virgil and Elliott are playing The Cask of Amontillado in the basement."
Roman perks up. "Isn't that sweet? I remember playing that with Remus when we were younger. I once managed to seal up Remus for three whole days."
"Only three?"
"He clawed his way out sooner than I expected."
Once Logan has properly dressed up the wound Roman leans in and kisses him as thanks. Logan returns the kiss then tries to pull away, but Roman grabs him and won't let go. Logan doesn't fight it.
Up in Kai's room Patton is very annoyed. Not because Kai has him tied up with an apple in his mouth, this is normal play that Patton is used to, but because Kai didn't ask first. Patton wonders if it's because Kai is a teenager now so he's moody. He struggles against the rope out of spite and lets out an annoyed and exasperated groan.
"Don't be a baby. I know what I'm doing," Kai says calmly as he aims a crossbow towards the apple in Patton's mouth. Patton rolls his eyes and lets out a huff. He only stops squirming so that he can instead focus his energy on thinking on how he'll get revenge.
The sound of footsteps trampling down the hallway makes Roman smile. Seems two of the children are playing chase, and the sound of what Roman identifies as a blade being lodged into a wall confirms his suspicions. Roman's smile grows fonder. There's an explosion upstairs that rattles the house. Logan doesn't have work today, at least not unless someone unexpectedly dies today which is always a very exciting possibility, so Logan is upstairs with Remus. The two of them love to experiment with different things together, and it fills Roman's heart that his twin and husband get along so well. Roman also loves that he gets along with his brother-in-law as well. The two of them sit in Roman's bedroom and fix up their nails; this is now regular routine for them that Roman always looks forward to.
"A party is a lovely idea!" He exclaims happily as he waits for his left hand to dry. "Oh I can't wait for Kai and Elliott to meet the Addams clan. I just know everyone will love them."
Janus smiles as he carefully applies gold polish to his right hand. "When was the last time we used that ballroom?"
Roman opens his mouth and then freezes. "Surely it wasn't your wedding, was it? Has it really been that long?"
"It has," Janus answers. Roman's jaw drops.
"Well then we're definitely-" there's another explosion and Roman calmly pauses and Janus lifts the brush away from his finger until it's over, before both resume what they had been doing, "-overdue for a party."
"I'm going to invite Rachel as well," Janus informs him. Roman nods with approval.
"Of course. I consider her a part of the Addams clan, she is your family after all."
Janus lets out a short, humorless laugh. "Being related to me does not make someone an Addams."
"I suppose not," Roman says quietly. Roman remembers Janus' parents, he used to see them yearly at their charity galas. He thought they were fine, good people, so dismissive and chilly, but now that Janus has told Roman more about them he now views the entire Bishop family with disdain. Except for Janus and now Rachel, of course. Roman gives Janus a small smile. He isn't a Bishop anymore, he's an Addams. "But Rachel is different."
A small, melancholy smile appears on Janus' face and he looks up at his brother-in-law. "Yes... she is."
"Speaking of Rachel, have you heard from back from her if she'd like revenge on her ex husband yet or not?"
"No, not yet."
"Pity. Now, about the party-"
Remus bounces his leg wildly as he waits impatiently for Roman to open and read the letter they have just received. The senders name stands out starkly against the white envelope in blood red ink. Jasper A. Verdell, known better to Roman and Remus as their cousin Jasper Addams-Verdell. The white sheep of the family, Jasper had moved to Washington D.C. years ago and now works for the state department. Like the rest of the Addams, Roman and Remus can't even begin to understand why he would ever want to do such a thing, but they still support Jasper all the same. They haven't heard from him since their cousin Balthazar's funeral and both twins are eager to see what he has to say.
As Roman grabs a dagger to rip open the envelope Patton comes running in from the adjoining room. He runs over to Remus and wordlessly holds out two bottles.
"Arsenic, cyanide..." Remus ponders for a moment. "Arsenic, arsenic." He points and taps on the bottle in Patton's right hand. Patton beams and nods before running back into the other room. Patton has Kai tied up in a chair and Kai is struggling and kicking to get free. Both Roman and Remus take a moment to watch the two children fondly, amused and gladdened to see their own children playing as they had once done in their own childhood. Remus' impatience and curiosity finally get the better of him, though, and he snatches the letter out of Roman's hand. He pulls out his own knife to rip open the envelope and begins to read.
My dear cousins,
You'll be glad to know that things are absolutely dreadful here in Washington D.C.. I know you had your concerns when I first moved here, but this town is so full of corrupt con-artists and backstabbing reprobates that I feel right at home. You both should bring your families and come visit, I would love to have you.
Speaking of which, Remus, I give you and Janus my congratulations on your two new family members. It's always a thrill to hear of new additions to the Addams clan. Based on the descriptions I've been given they sound like proper little deviants already and you two must be extremely proud. I can't wait to meet them.
I have many stories I wish I could tell you but this town keeps me busy and I must wrap this up. I anxiously await your response
- Jasper
"I'm so glad to hear he's doing well. D.C. sounds surprisingly homey," Roman says contently. "Remus, help me draft up a response to send along with his invitation."
Upstairs in the attic Virgil is standing next to the switches for the electric chair and he begins to flip them one by one so that the electricity can charge up. Elliott excitedly watches their older cousin and listens curiously to the sounds of surging electricity. They notice a spider resting in Virgil's hair; a black widow only visible by her red spot standing out against Virgil's dark hair. Elliott is pretty sure her name is Manuela.
Since they have to wait for the electric chair to charge up Elliott wanders around the attic. In one of the corners of the room is a taxidermy two-headed giant tortoise. It's big enough that Elliott could climb on top of it, and so they do. Virgil watches as he flips another switch for the chair.
"Uncle Remus did that one."
Elliott perks up. "Really?" Virgil nods.
"Yeah. He's done a lot of taxidermy in the house, like the moose head above the fireplace. He also did the taxidermy for Aunt Vendetta's boa constrictor."
"Whoaaa, cool," Elliott exclaims as they look back down at the tortoise they're sitting on. They trace their fingers along the patterns on its shell.
"The chair is charged up now," Virgil announces. Elliott excitedly hops off the tortoise and starts to run towards the chair, but Virgil stops them. "You're too little to sit in the chair." Elliott pouts with disappointment.
"But I'm a big kid!" They protest.
"Daddy wouldn't let me electrocute Patton until he was six, and you're not six yet." Elliott's pout grows. "You can shock me, though. It's just as fun to watch people get electrocuted." Elliott perks up at that.
Logan watches with complete fascination as Janus feeds Cleopatra. The plant is still unable to feed herself, Remus says it's because Janus babies her too much, so Janus guides forkfuls of meat into her... mouth? Logan isn't quite sure what to call it, he's never seen a plant like Cleopatra before.
"There you go. Don't gulp, Cleopatra," Janus coos. Logan can definitely see why Remus says he babies her too much, though he definitely won't express that thought out loud lest Janus decides to stick that fork into Logan instead. "Logan can you be a dear and finish feeding Cleopatra for me? I want to move the hemlock back to the window so they can get enough moonlight."
"Certainly." Logan walks over and takes the plate from his brother-in-law and the two of them trade places. A comfortable silence falls between them as Janus focuses on his other plants and Logan focuses on Cleopatra. She's so interesting, even once he's done feeding her he still watches her with absolute captivation.
"Oh, Logan, look. The most touching thing has happened." Janus' voice breaks the silence and Logan walks over to his side. "It's the trailing arbutus and the creeping midnight crawler. They're embracing, isn't that sweet? But the creeper went to the left and the arbutus went to the right, and they choked each other."
"What a way to go," Logan says in amazement as he leans forward to get a closer look. Both men fall back into silence as they look at the two plants and think of their husbands.
The Addams adults sit together in the living room while the children play. It's good for them to get the last of their energy out before bed so that they won't thrash so much in their sleep that they'll need to be chained down. Roman sits next to Remus on a loveseat as the two of them try to figure out the guest list for the party.
"How are we going to get this invitation to Great-Uncle Madoc? His cave doesn't have an address," Roman huffs.
"We'll ask Cousin Henrietta to send her vulture," Remus answers as though it's obvious. "No doubt she'll be able to find him."
"Ah, of course," Roman says happily.
The crash of an explosion shakes the house for the third time today and they smile fondly at the sound.
"Ah, those educational toys are marvelous," Janus muses as he brings his attention back to his knitting.
"They keep the children off the streets," Logan agrees.
"What do you all think?" Janus asks as he holds up the sweater he's been knitting. He holds out the left arm of the sweater, which is about as long as his own, and then the right, which is so long that it almost falls to the floor. "Do you think Uncle Crimp will like his new sweater?"
"I hope so. Looks like a perfect fit," Remus tells him. Janus smiles happily and begins to add the finishing touches.
"Janus, did Remus tell you Cousin Jasper reached out?" Roman asks.
"He did not. How is he?"
"Seems he's doing quite well, sounds like he's fond of D.C.."
"It gives me hope that there's someone like him involved in politics. A terrible profession, but a noble sacrifice," Logan says. Janus nods in agreement.
"I just hope he doesn't become a congressman," Remus mutters. Roman inhales sharply and brings his hand to his chest.
"Remus, please. Don't insult Jasper like that. I don't want to hear such nonsense," he hisses.
The living room door swings open and Kai walks in. He looks at his fathers and uncles with amusement. "Elliott and Patton fell asleep on top of the chandelier and we can't get them down."
Roman and Remus laugh and Logan and Janus smile and shake their heads in amusement. There's never a dull moment here in the Addams household, not when they're in such good company.
