“I know a lullaby. Think that’ll help you sleep?”
She sighed, “maybe.” Atsushi had invited her to spend the night at his house. At first she denied, being too embarrassed to spend the night with a man, but he was somehow able to convince her. At first it had been fine: She came over, played with Snowball, ate dinner, and watched a movie. She had been relaxed the whole time. It was like it was just another day of them hanging out.
When it came to bedtime though, that’s when her anxiety came back; It turned out he only had one bedroom and only one bed. She didn’t know what else she was expecting honestly. He offered to sleep on the couch, but that only seemed to make her more nervous for some reason. Maybe because she hadn’t slept alone in her whole life, always sleeping in the same futon as her siblings.
Now it was late and she was still wide awake. She was exhausted and she just wanted to sleep, but her anxiety made it impossible.
