This is hugely embarrassing and upsetting to me. "A Song for Ghosts" officially launched on February 23rd. I do know of some purchases made. Apparently my provider does NOT know of these. Whether there was a mistake in the trasmission from platform to provider or some other techincal issues remains to be seen, but for my provider to look into it I need to proove that their claim of zero sales is faulty. If you can and feel comfortable to do so, I would be beyond grateful if you could send me a proof of purchase (a screenshot maybe, and anonymized) where the purchase date, the platform and of course, the title of my book are visible. The suitcase was packed, everything was ready and I was hyped for #LBM2020 - but sadly, today the organizers announced that in consideration of current events and developments a convention of this size and scale would be irresponsible to hold. I cannot say that I don't see the point. I do. And I can only thank the organizers for having fought so hard until the end so we would have a convention. But in the end the health and lives of potentially thousands of people is more important. I'm honestly grieving, a little. This would have been the convention to show off "A song for Ghosts", my first major publication and I was bouncing at the thought. The LBM is the time to meet old friends and make new ones and I'm a bit at a loss at what to do. But well, there's an upside to everything. This year I would have introduced the ebook of "A song for Ghosts". Next year however? "A Song for Ghosts" as ebook AND as a print, ready for you to touch and leaf through and even better - it won't come alone. This time next year, the follow-up, "An Ode to Life" will probably be out already and the thought of presenting two novels actually makes me happy again. How did you take the news?
